CHURCH OF THE SACRED HEART 2 WASECA, MN
WELCOME INTO THE SACRED HEART
FAMILY OF CHRIST
Jacob Paul Deen, child of Walter & Elizabeth
Deen, and Jaden James Melquist, child of
Laura Melquist.
Dear People of God,
This weekend is the FEAST Of CHRIST
the KING. One who is Lord of our lives and
directs our lives. One who is God of our lives
and the one who is the most important person
(or thing) of our lives.
Without realizing it we put other
things in place of God and then we begin to say things like,
“we do not have time for God.” We are saying, in fact, that
we do not believe that God is the most important person at
this time. We desire to find joy and happiness elsewhere.”
If Jesus is Lord of our lives, then we allow Jesus to
lead and direct our lives. We allow Jesus to do for us what
we cannot do for ourselves. Some say that they do not have
time to wait for Jesus to act, and, they need to get things
done. They become rash and impatient. When people are
edgy and nervous, when worry and anxiety enter in to our
lives, then, it may be because we do not understand that we
are not the Lord of the world and God does not live by our
time frame. Yet in God’s world there is always reason to
have hope and to trust that goodness and truth will prevail
over all violence and injustice. God will assist us if we
merely allow God to move in our minds and hearts.
The fourth grade asked some interesting questions
this week. They wanted to know, if God created the world,
then who made God?
When I explained that the Lord was eternal and
was present before anything was made, they began to real-
ize that eternity was a very long time. This is why we be-
lieve that even if the truth does not come out immediately it
will emerge in God’s time.
In the Gospel for this weekend Jesus stands before
Pontius Pilate. Jesus is asked if He is a King. Jesus responds
that the reason that He was born and came into the world is
to testify to the truth. Truth is facts, truth is evidence, truth is
justice, truth is faithfulness, and truth can only be set on the
foundation of reality and not mere imagination, or opinion.
We must listen to the experience of others, especially those
who suffer, because their truth matters.
When God had an idea in His mind He spoke it
aloud and then Jesus the Word took flesh and showed to us
what it means for us to be children of God. If we are to fol-
low Jesus it means we must be honest about ourselves, about
our families, and about our nation. Not everything that we
do is life-giving and wonderful. Not everything that our
country is a part of has brought about the protection of
human life. At the same time, we can be a part of standing
together in Christ for what brings life and healing in the
world. Jesus is the truth that sets us free. Jesus is the Lord of
all. We give thanks to Him forever. We ask that He be The
Lord of our lives.

Today is Christ the King Sunday. Instead of using His power
selfishly to get whatever He wanted, Jesus used His power to
free people from sickness, from death, and from evil. Jesus
came to tell us the truth about God. Now we need to listen to
the voice of Jesus and follow His example.
Prayer
Dear God, thank you for sending Jesus to
be our loving king.
Something to Draw
Draw a picture of Jesus wearing a crown of thorns.
Mission for the Week
We "listen to Jesus" when we follow His example. This week, let
others go first when you play a game.

We continue with our alphabet and sharing bas-

NOTES FROM CDA
We hope to see many of our members at
the CDA Christmas party on December 11th.
Bring a "white elephant gift" wrapped, and
a dish to pass. Note the change in time. The
meeting will start at 6:00pm, with rosary at 5:45pm.
There has been a change in the standing rules. In the
past the court has carried members for some time who
had not been up to date with their dues. This can cause
havoc with the budget. The new standing rule will
read: "Annual membership dues are $30 to be paid in
November of each year. If a member's dues are not
paid in full by the following February 1st, her member-
ship will expire and she will be removed from the mem-
bership roster." If you have any questions feel free to
contact Lori Mickelson or Pat Foley.
Eucharistic Adoration Quotes
Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration with exposition needs a
great push. People ask me: 'What will convert America
and save the world?' My answer is prayer. What we
need is for every parish to come before Jesus in the
Blessed Sacrament in holy hours of prayer.
St. Teresa of Calcutta
In a world where there is so much noise, so much bewil-
derment, there is a need for silent adoration of Jesus
concealed in the Host. Be assiduous in the prayer of
adoration and teach it to the faithful. It is a source of
comfort and light, particularly to those who are suffer-
ing.
Pope Benedict XVI
St. Andrew, also known as Andrew
the Apostle, was a Christian Apostle
and the older brother to St. Peter.
According to the New Testament,
Andrew was born in the village of
Bethsaida on the Sea of Galilee
during the early first century. Much like his younger
brother, Simon Peter, Andrew was also a fisherman. An-
drew's very name means strong and he was known for
having good social skills.
In the Gospel of Matthew, it is said Jesus was walking
along the shore of the Sea of Galilee and saw Andrew
and Simon Peter fishing. It is then He asked the two to be-
come disciples and "fishers of men."
It is believed Andrew was one of the closer disciples to
Jesus. It was he who told Jesus about the boy with the
loaves and fishes, according to John 6:8. When Philip
wanted to speak to Jesus about Greeks seeking Him, he
spoke to Andrew first. Andrew was also present at the last
supper.
St. Andrew is the patron saint of fishermen.

ANNUAL CHRISTMAS SHARING TREE
We are doing our Christmas Sharing Tree
this year to help parish families in need this
Christmas. The tree has been placed by
the confessional at the back of church with
gift tags for you to take, purchase and re-
turn the item to the parish office by Dec.
12th. Help make Christmas Merry for all.
St. Vincent’s Table,
sponsored by the St. Vincent de
Paul Society and area churches
will be looking for volunteers to
help cook, serve and clean-up
for a weekly meal prepared for
those in need. These meals will be prepared on
Wednesday, with servings and cleanup being done on
Thursdays. Help will be needed by 5:00 pm on both
days.
We need an idea of the number of people
willing to assist with this community endeavor. If you
would be willing to help, please call and leave a mes-
sage at 507-521-2051 or you may
email: [email protected].
Without the helping hands of many, this
endeavor will not be possible.
Help
Wanted
Thank you for your generous out-
pouring of gifts and money for
Operation Christmas Child. The
grand total after all is said and
done was 58 boxes. This sur-
passed our expectations. This will bring many smiles to
the faces of needy children overseas.
Help Warm Hands, Heads and Hearts
with Sacred Heart’s Annual Mitten Tree
donations. On the weekend of Nov. 24/25
a tree will be placed in the north entrance
of church for you to place your donations of
new hats, gloves, mittens, and scarves for
children and adults. These donations will be
used by the Santa Anonymous program.
Donations must be in by Dec. 14th.
Manger of Hope
Each year at this time, we ask our pa-
rishioners to help take care of those in
need. We accept donations for our
Manger of Hope to allow us some funds
to use to help those of our parish who may be strug-
gling financially. If you wish to donate, please place
your donation in a white envelope marked Manger of
Hope and drop it in the offertory basket at Mass or
drop it off in the Parish Office. Blessing to you on your
generosity.
Socktober, sponsored by the Catholic Daughters
during the month of October, brought in
380 pairs of socks for children, teens and
adults along with cash donations. Thank
you for your generosity to help those less
fortunate.
