The Church Gathers to Worship God

Welcome and Announcements

Prelude (Silent preparation for worship begins with the appreciation of this music offering)

Call to Worship: (from the Shema -- Deuteronomy 6:4-9) Leader: Hear O Israel, The Lord Your God is One People: Blessed be the Name of God's glorious kingdom forever and ever. Leader: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. People: These words that God commands us today shall be in our heart. And we shall teach them diligently to our children, and we will speak of them. Unison Prayer of Invocation: (based on the Shema, parts 2 and 3 -- Deuteronomy 11:13-21 and Numbers 15:37-41)

God that will give us rain to our land, the early and the late rains, that we may gather in our grain, our wine and our oil and who gives grass in our fields for our cattle and that we might eat and be satisfied. We want to be holy for our God. Help us to remember all of Your commandments and do them and not follow after our heart and after our eyes which lead you astray. Help us to beware, lest our heart be deceived, and we turn and serve other gods and worship them, for you are the Lord, our God, who lead us from the land of Egypt to be a God to us. *Opening Hymn You Servants of God NCH #305 A Story for All Ages * the children arrive to the Chancel to the “traveling music” of Jesus Loves Me!, NCH #327, v.1 * the children depart to their classrooms to “traveling music” of All Things Bright and Beautiful, NCH #31, v.1

Supporting the Church’s Mission in God’s World

Invitation to Giving The Offertory There is a Redeemer – Chancel Choir K. Green * The Doxology NCH #780 Offertory Prayer/Prayer of Dedication God, the people of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own kind than are the people

of the light. Help us use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, we

will be welcomed into eternal dwellings. You have said, “Whoever can be trusted with very little

can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest

with much." If we have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with

true riches? And if we have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give us

property of your own? We give to You, who are trustworthy above all people, that these gifts

might bring your world into eternal dwellings.

The Word of God for the People of God Centering Hymn There Is a Balm in Gilead NCH #553 The Scripture Reading 1 Timothy 2:1-7 p. 208 Sermon “Can You Handle The Truth?”

The Faithful Response of the People of God *Closing Hymn Eternal Father, Strong to Save PH #429 *Benediction Postlude

As a matter of courtesy and welcome to those who may be visiting, please take a moment to pick up your name

tag on the wall in the narthex....and put it on.
