PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE___________________________________________________

A weekly missionary prayer focus from the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship book entitled, Prayers for the People.

“Love does no wrong to a neighbor;therefore, love is the fulfilling of the law.”

-- Romans 13:10

For those attending the Advocacy in Action conference, pray for strength, clarity, and courage as they work together to make this world look more like God’s kingdom. Ask God to open their eyes to the injustice around them, to open their ears to hear the stories of their neighbors, and to open their minds to creative ways to address need.Give thanks that we live in a land where the voice of the people can still be heard. Ask God to grant us wisdom and patience to discern God’s word for the world. Soften hearts and prepare the ears of those who hear that Word.Pray that God will give Advocacy in Action participants stamina so that they will not grow weary in well-doing. Ask God to grant them joyous companions for the journey. Give thanks for the model of God’s sone Jesus, who lived his life oriented towards those whom he called “the least of these,” while challenging the powers of his day. may we learn to follow confidently his example for the sake of the Gospel, for God’s people, and the world God so lovingly created.

The fresh flowers in the sanctuary today are given to the glory of God by the Jim Cresimore Memorial Flower Fund.

These images form the centerpiece of this powerful event premiering Pepper Choplin’s brand new cantata. We are honored to be accompanied by The Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle, who will open the program with the beautiful PASSION SYMPHONY by Joseph Haydn. LENTEN SERMON SERIES

The Many Faces of LentBegins Today!

The sermons during Lent will follow the texts suggested by the Revised Common Lectionary. I don’t always follow the lectionary but I decided to do so this year because of the wide variety of people and subjects covered. We begin with Jesus’ temptations, move to Nicodemus, and then on to the woman at the well, David, and Ezekiel before reaching Palm Sunday. I hope you can be here every Sunday.

IN THE PULPIT TODAYOur pastor had a minor surgical procedure last week that necessitated him being out today. He plans to be back in the office this week and in the pulpit next Sunday. Our thanks to Rebecca Hall for again helping us out in a pinch.

WEDNESDAY BIBLE STUDY RESUMESThe mid-day and evening Wednesday Bible studies will resume this Wednesday, March 8th.

TIME CHANGENext Sunday, Mar 12TH

Remember to set your clocks one hour ahead before going to bed next Saturday!

CALLED BUSINESS MEETING- Next Sunday, Mar 12TH

to Approve HVAC ReplacementIn May 2015 the church approved $15,000 to replace an HVAC condenser and air handler that services the office area, parlor, bathrooms beside of the parlor, and hallway behind the sanctuary. Since then we’ve managed to coax almost two more years of use out of the unit. However, in the last week it has gone past the point of more repairs or patches. At this point we need to replace the unit. Our regular provider, Newcomb and Company, has given us an updated quote of $18,944. The extra expense is due to a change in approach. Previously, we’d planned to go back with one large unit in the attic crawl space. This would have required a labor intensive process of taking the new unit apart and reassembling it in the attic. We would have incurred carpentry expenses not included in Newcomb’s price of approximately $15,000 and inspections by the city. Now we plan to replace the one large unit with two smaller units and have a “zoned” approach. One unit will control the offices and one will service the remaining spaces. This should provide utility savings and not require anything beyond the price quoted by Newcomb. The church will be asked to approve the total $18,944 for the project.

DRIVER NEEDED- Can you help?We need 1 person to go with our Senior adults to the Spring Senior Adult Rally on Tuesday, March 28th. You will need to be available from 8 a.m.- 1 p.m. and be willing to drive the church bus. No special license is required. If you would be willing to facilitate our seniors in attending this fun event, please contact the church office ASAP!
