Church Cook-Out Today at Noon
TODAY at NOON the entire church is invited to participate in a cookout! The church will provide the burgers, hotdogs, buns and drinks. Each family is asked to bring 3 items: side dishes, salads, and/or desserts. Please, drop off all food at the pavilion prior to attending Sunday School or Church. Please, do NOT take food to the kitchen area. There will be a team at the pavilion preparing for the noon meal.

Today is “Promotion Sunday” for our Children’s & Youth Sunday School classes. Also it is a chance to say THANK YOU to the many teachers who give their time every week to prepare, and then lead a class each Sunday. THANK YOU FOR YOUR FAITHFULNESS to teaching, touching lives, and planting seeds that we may all grow in our Christian walk.
Life University’s Fall session will kick off September 8th with 4 adult classes to choose from plus kids classes! Register for
the class of your choice today. Classes meet Sunday evenings from 6pm-7pm (unless noted),
and we are adding children’s classes this year! Classes will run 10 weeks Sept 8-Nov 17. Deadline for registration, book orders and payment will be AUGUST 25
th. Stop by the
table in the narthex to register your family! We ask for payment of book(s) at time of registration. NEW ADDITION………………..
►►BASICS of SIGN LANGUAGE class may be available if there is enough
interest. The class would be held 5pm – 6pm just before Life U classes, running the same 10 weeks. Please sign up on the bulletin board if you would be interested in attending this class.
The new Awana year kicks off this Wednesday at 6:45. It’s not to late to register! We are still in need of a few leaders and would LOVE to have you join us!! Won’t you pray
about where you might be a part? Here’s what we need: Puggles (2 year old class) – 1 Leader/Cubbies (3 and 4 year old class) – 2 leaders)/T & T ( 3
rd through 5
th Graders) 1
Director and 2 Leaders. Also, we can always use listeners! Please see Miss Pat with
any questions you have about these openings of where you might be able to serve. It’s going to be a great year!!!! U don’t need to know the difference between a ’69 Plymouth Road Runner and a 1958 Porsche Speedster. U don’t need
to stay the whole event. But we would like U to be a part of this exciting outreach that we call the UBCruisin’. There are many ways to participate in this ministry before, during, and after the event, so don’t hesitate to talk with someone at the sign up table outside the sanctuary to find ways you can join in. Some volunteer needs only require a short time commitment, while others are for a longer time period. ANY amount of time U can give will be greatly appreciated! Please check out the signup sheets outside the sanctuary to see where U fit into the UBCruisin’

11AM ONLY: Children Ages 4 – Grade 2 are dismissed for Children’s Church. Please, have them come to the front to be escorted to their class. Parents: After service, you will need to pick up children from the Heartland upstairs. They will NOT be dismissed without you.

Choose Life Ministries’ Doug Cullen Guest speaker – Wed., Aug. 21

In 2004 The Cullens received the call to start Choose Life Ministries and began traveling and sharing a Biblical worldview of life across the Nation. We still have openings in our 3 yr. old class but only one opening left in our 4 yr. old class. Call the church office for an info. packet @384-3855. UBC Preschool open house is August 29
th, 6-8pm.
We will have a tour of classrooms as well as games, crafts & a snack. This is open to all preschool age children. Please sign-up on the bulletin board, so we can plan accordingly.

We are painting, cleaning & planning for the start of our school year; Sept. 3
rd. If you have a 3 or 4 year
old, see Beth Webster or Ms. Pat and schedule a time to talk about the program and register before it’s too late. We only have 1 opening in our 4 year old class. We are also offering a 2-day (Tues. & Thurs.) and a 3 day (Tues.-Thurs.) program for our 3 year olds (9AM - Noon) If you have been thinking about it, now is the time to act.

God’s Plan for Your Life Are you certain you have eternal life and will go to Heaven when you die? What would you say if you were standing before God right now and He asked you, “Why should I let you into My Heaven?” God’s Purpose: God loves us and has a purpose for our lives. The Bible says it this way: “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16) Our Need: As we search for meaning in life, we discover that our sinful nature keeps us from fulfilling God purpose for our lives. We are all sinners by nature and by choice. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23) God’s Provision: God is holy and just and must punish sin. Yet He loves us and provides forgiveness for our sin. Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6) Our Response: The only way Jesus can affect our lives is for us to receive Him. We must surrender to Jesus as Lord. “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved” (Rom. 10:9-10) My Commitment: “Dear Lord Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God and died to forgive me of my sins. I know I have sinned. I ask You to forgive me. I turn from my sins, and I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You for saving me. I want to live for You the rest of my life. Amen.”
