More than 40 people turned out Saturday afternoon for a rally in front of the Kootenay Co-Op aimed at raising awareness for chang-es in the definition of local food.
The local gro-cery store is on the leading edge of a movement to stop
the Canadian Food Inspection Agency from making chang-es to the definition of local food.
The agency is pro-posing to define it as food sourced any-where in the prov-ince and extends 50 kilometres across provincial borders. The co-op says the definition allows marketers and re-tailers to brand
products as local that were grown in markets that can be further than 2,000 kilometres away, and that the definition is a radical departure from the old official definition.
Local farmer Col-leen Ross, Southern Interior MP Alex At-amanenko and Nel-son-Creston MLA Michelle Mungall all spoke to the crowd.

Salmo residents are a passionate folk.
Each time council meets, a handful of citizen watchdogs at-tends to keep an eye on what is happening within their village limits.
Last week was no exception, as it was standing room only when ball players and Legion members united to question the village’s proposed
master plan of the Knights of Pythias (KP) park in down-town Salmo.
Although the plan was first displayed on the village website last fall, its existence only recently became known to many res-idents, in particular the members of Sal-mo’s Legion which is located in front of the park.
At contention within the proposed plan is an extrava-gant water fountain
feature that appears to infringe upon Le-gion-owned property.
“We are here about the KP Park and the changes that are
proposed to it,” said Steven MacDonald, president of the Sal-
mo Royal Canadian Legion. “And how it will affect the Legion building and its prop-erty.”
MacDonald ex-plained his concern regarding those grounds, which are the site of the Legion’s most important fund-raisers during the year, such as its beer gardens on July 1.
“We are here for clarification although I must say that it is an ambitious looking plan.”
Mayor Ann Hen-derson tried to allay some of the worries by pointing out that when the plan was drawn up it was a wish list only.
“This plan is just a plan and is way on the back burner,” said Henderson.
“Because it is going to take a lot of money, it may never leave the back burner.”
Another member of the public voiced her concern...

A press release from the RCMP’s Kootenay Bound-ary Detachment describes a serious motor vehicle acci-dent that happened on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at about 2 p.m. Salmo RCMP re-portedly responded about five km east of Salmo.
According to in-formation supplied by Sgt. Darryl Little, Ops Support NCO, a northbound pickup truck on Belmond Road had failed to yield the right of way to a westbound mo-torcycle on the high-way.
The motorcycle
crashed into the pas-senger side of the pickup and occu-pants of the motor-cycle were thrown off the bike with serious injuries.
One rider, a Trail female, 22 was tak-en by ambulance to Trail hospital and the other rider, a 69 year old Trail male, was flown by BC Air Am-bulance (helicopter) to Kelowna and later
to Vancouver hospi-tal.
The highway was closed for about three hours during the investigation and to allow the helicop-ter to land on the highway for immedi-ate transport.
Several civilians helped with first aid and police would like to express apprecia-tion for their efforts. No charges had been laid as of Monday morning, the investi-gation into the cause of the accident is continuing.
As more motor-cycles come out for the spring and sum-mer, police remind all motorists to be careful and check for blind-spots.

“We’re excited about our activ-ities,” said Community Manager, Michele Shillaker “the weather is getting warm so we are moving some activities outside. We have live outdoor dances and bus trips to Christina Lake; we’ll also visit an Osoyoos winery to take in the beautiful scenery and taste BC’s best wines.”
When residents get home they can expect hearty, home-style meals prepared by on-site chefs. Fresh hot coffee and tea is served
twice daily accompanied by an as-sortment of muffins, cookies or scones. If residents wish to host a private party for family catering services are available or they can cook in their own private kitchen.
In addition to the hospitality services, residents can enjoy peace of mind knowing they don’t have to worry about extra bills because all utilities including water, sewer, heat, air conditioning and cable are also included.
“I am very happy that I moved to Silver Kettle Village” said Violet Hughes, a resident of Silver Ket-tle Village. “I enjoy the company of the other residents and joining in the daily activities. From Sit Fit classes, weekly films, live enter-tainment, and bus outings, there is always something to do.”
What’s more, Silver Kettle Vil-lage’s convenient location enables seniors to easily maintain their re-lationships with friends and fam-ily. And at Silver Kettle Village pets are a big part of the family. In this pet friendly building residents are encouraged to bring their pets with them to live.
Free from the responsibilities of home-ownership, seniors at Silver Kettle Village can enjoy the many other activities and joys that life offers. Castlegar Sunfest – famous for its show-ers of rain in pre-vious year’s events, shined with rock and roll attitude to some of the best entertain-ment to ever grace Kinsmen Park.
Friday evening was a ashback to the best of 1960’s rock and pop with the Beatles tribute band the Fab Fourev-er. Saturday BC/DC, perhaps the best AC/DC tribute band in the world pound-ed the park with the driving rock and roll that keeps you up at night playing air gui-tar. Between these two great bands the best of local Koote-
nay talent avoured the cooking pot with tasteful reminders of what music is all about.
e Fab Fourever, in period costumes and instruments brought solid rendi-tions of the original music to the stage
where you forgot that this was a tribute band. With true-to-form accents, fashion and hair, the band in-tertwined the songs with stories of the Beatles’ early days paying dues, includ-ing playing the now well known Cavern
Club. ese young lads from Liverpool, part of the rst Brit-ish invasion, and lat-er part of late 1960’s psychedelic cultural revolution, changed musical history and we were well remind-ed of that.

News
Trail NewsComing out of the
gates, Teck and Trail already have a lead, according to the Area A director.
Ali Grieve was referring to the de-tails about a mutual agreement between Teck Trail Opera-tions and the City of Trail, released last week, which outline the city’s intent to expand its boundary into Teck-owned land in Area A (Columbia Gardens).
The tentative deal between Teck and the city, however, is far, far away from be-ing a done deal, said Grieve.
Grieve said both the city and Teck al-ready stand to gain quite a bit “coming out of the gates.”
“It is a win-win agreed to amongst themselves.
“But in order for the province to allow the proposal to move forward, they will have to see that the stakeholders’ issues have been addressed.”
And the issue is money, in particular, how to fairly distrib-ute tax dollars gen-erated from the area within the proposed boundary extension, which includes the Waneta Dam and Teck’s Waneta Reload facility.
“It comes down to money, tax dollars and there should be no losers here,” said Grieve.
She said potential negative impacts and how they can be fixed will be addressed and then tax-sharing for-mulas for the Waneta Dam will be worked out between the Bea-ver Valley and Trail.
Montrose waterThe glass is almost
full for the Village of Montrose as the fi-nal stages of its water treatment project be-gan last week.
The on-line chlori-nation process began on Tuesday and for village residents, this
change to the tap wa-ter will most likely be noticeable.
As the tap water reaches “official” wa-ter quality, it may taste or smell a little odd, explained Kevin Chartres, chief ad-ministrative officer for the village.
“Changes in both taste and odour will obviously be more no-
ticeable because the system was previously un-chlorinated.”
Chartres said while the chlorine works to clean the inside of the pipes, the taste and odour will be more noticeable until a free residual of chlorine is maintained.
He said it will take some time to obtain a consistent level of
chlorine in the sys-tem, and levels could fluctuate from 0.2 to 1.5 parts per million (ppm), but ultimate-ly the regulation re-quires 0.2 mg of chlo-rine per litre of water at the end of the lines.
“After a few weeks, most consumers will easily adjust to the difference,” he added.

Through the Walls of Time
Fourteenth in a (more-or-less) alpha-betical series on West Kootenay-Boundary place names.
Bealby Point, a community just out-side Nelson on the south shore of Koo-tenay Lake’s West Arm, is named for John Thomas Bealby (1858-1944), a pro-
lific author and fruit rancher. Born in En-gland and educated at Cambridge, Bealby came to this area in 1907 and two years later published the classic Fruit Ranching in British Columbia, part memoir and part manual for prospec-tive immigrants.
Amongst many other works, Bealby contributed to the 1911 edition of the Encyclopedia Britan-
nica (collaborating on some items with noted anarchist Peter Kropotkin), edited the Scottish Geo-graphical Magazine, and translated works on diverse subjects.
Upon arriving in Canada, he settled at Bonnington, but later bought the property near Nelson that now bears his name. The ranch was originally called Florence Park after the children of
owners William and Luella Roberts — daughter Florence and son Park.
In addition to rais-ing chickens and cows, the Roberts’ opened a hotel in 1899 even though it was out of the way. In an ad they promised “A pleasant place to spend afternoon, eve-nings and enjoy deli-cacies that cannot be obtained in hotels or restaurants at Nelson.
Good stabling. Open day and night. Can be reached by either road or water.”
Within a few months they had a po-tential deal to sell the hotel to J.L. Stocks, but it fell through. The entire 143-acre property — of which 35 acres had been cul-tivated and 580 fruit trees planted — was listed for sale the fol-lowing year without any takers.
A rumour had cir-culated that Nelson’s street railway would be extended as far as Florence Park (the company denied it) and Mrs. Roberts sued the Canadi-an Pacific Railway and Nelson and Fort Sheppard Railway for $4,000 over 12 acres expropriated in the middle of their land. It’s not clear how the case was resolved.
The Roberts’ con-
tinued to run their hotel at least through 1904. J.T. Bealby con-tinued to live and ranch there with his family until 1940 when he retired to Vancouver. Signs de-noting Bealby Road and Bealby Point per-petuate his memory.
The Roberts left the area and are long forgotten. As of 1939 they ran the Riviera Apartment Hotel in San Diego.

While there is a stigma bikers live with, that they’re as-sociated with crime and the underworld, that’s not the case with the Christian Motorcyclists’ Asso-ciation.
e local chapter (Truth Bearers) of the non-pro t, interde-nominational Chris-tian organization is seeking new mem-bers, says president Ian Robins.
“Our basic rea-son for being is to do outreach at various motorcycling events and to go to rallies and volunteer to help in many, many dif-ferent ways,” Robins explains. “To gain one’s colours in our
association, you have to undergo a certain amount of training and you can join vari-ous ministries.”
He says there is a servants’ team, whose members assist in a number of di erent ways by meeting var-ious needs at rallies, whether it be helping promoters with regis-tration or clean-up.
In addition, there are women’s, prayer, prison, hospitality, music, mechanical, rst aid, and chil-
dren’s ministry teams.“Various people
nd their niche and we work in di erent ways,” Robins says, adding that the Truth Bearers cover the Kootenay-Boundary region with member-ship extending from Nelson, Castlegar, Trail to Princeton.
“Our mission state-ment is, ‘Travelling the highways and by-ways, changing the world, one heart at a time.’ We’re an out-reach organization
rather than a social club of Christian rid-ers,” he says.
Robins explains that the association’s mandate is to pro-claim the gospel of Jesus Christ wherever members are.
“We don’t stipu-late what denomina-tion that would be as long as its orthodox Christianity and ac-ceptance of the basics of Christian belief,” he says. “We are an evangelical outreach association but we also have a good time. We love to ride mo-torcycles and we love to be with motorcycle people and we love talking motorcycles.”

Entertainment
Many Castle-gar residents were dressed in the fashion of that time, and went home that night bub-bling with love child enthusiasm.
e next morning started with a bang with local boys Con-crete Harvester in
only their second gig, cowpunkin’ it out. Johnny Cash may well have rolled over, but that’s a given with these boys.
Next Kathy Kolar and her band rocked the stage with some of the best radio rock tunes of the last de-cade. With wireless microphone and gui-
tar, Kathy and one of her sidemates cruised through the crowd interacting with the new fans they gained that day.
e music then started to get an in-tellectual edge with the jazzy Grant and Mara, and then Ce-cil Foley played love-ly renditions of Neil
Young material with some very ne guitars including a vintage Epiphone arch top.
Next up was Pau-line Lamb with a three piece band, showing us why she is a Koo-tenay legend. Playing originals and drawing from the wealth of
Rock and Folk songs from the likes of J.J. Cale and Van Morri-son, her band showed the gratefully-attend-ed the nuances and dynamics that live music can o er.
A er Pauline the Super Cats students showed o their Rock
and Roll chops with the help of their in-stuctor Yanive.
Last but not least, BC/DC showed ev-erybody what real Rock & Roll is all about. eir lesson didn’t y over the class’ head. No, they shook us to the bone
all evening long. As the sun began
its nal descent be-hind the cli s of the Lion’s Head, the re-cord crowd dissipated from Kinsmen park satiated with the joy-ous head-banging that only the best mu-sic can provide.

On Sunday, June 9 Castlegar Friends of Parks and Trails will host a volunteer mountain bike trail build followed by the grand opening of the first sanctioned downhill mountain biking trail in Castle-gar called “Hail Mer-ry.”
The build will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. followed by a
barbecue for the vol-unteers provided by the Castlegar friends of Parks and Trails Society.
We will then open the trail to the public at 3 p.m.
There is also an option to become a member of the Castlegar friends of Parks and Trails So-ciety for $10.
For those inter-ested in helping we would love to have
you out and please bring a shovel or rake.
The site of this trail is not difficult to find. Head up to the Merry Creek Forestry Ser-vice Road - located up Highway 3 toward Grand Forks about half a kilometer past the Timberland Mo-tel on the right. Look for the “expect sud-den weather chang-es” highway sign.
Follow Merry
Creek FSR for two kilometers and you’ll come to a parking lot on your right and the new trail is directly behind looking up-hill.
If you enjoy any type of biking in the area come lend a hand because this will be the first of many!

For those who con-tinue to notice the chlorine taste, the village suggests that drinking water be chilled in the refriger-ator before consump-tion.
Also, residents can purchase products with activated car-bon filtration which will remove most of the chlorine and its by-products.
Chartres said care-ful monitoring of the disinfection process and of residual chlo-rine levels ensure that consumer complaints are minimized.
A “Water Condi-tion Normal Notice” will be issued when the drinking water official is satisfied the water quality meets the requirements is-sued by the BC Drink-ing Water Protection Regulation.

The Boundary animal control offi-cers have terminated their contract with the Regional District of Kootenay Bound-ary (RDKB).
As a result, the RDKB is looking for someone to fill the shoes of Rich-ard Smith and John Jansezian as of last Saturday, said Elaine Kumar, RDKB direc-tor of corporate ad-ministration.
“They gave their notice,” said Kumar. “I was disappointed, however, with what’s been going on (late-ly) it’s been rough for them.”
She told the Ga-zette that they have been harassed by res-idents in the Bound-ary.

...that as a resident living adjacent to the park, a letter should have been issued to inform residents that the plan encroaches on Legion land. “Because on the map, it shows where the fountain would be on Legion property,” she said.
Coun. Jennifer Peel countered that there were several public meetings advertised to allow for input on what “they would like to see in the park.”
“We didn’t leave the public out of this, but for some reason there has been a flurry of ac-tivity and frustration over the park,” she said.
“How come the community wasn’t in-volved or consulted? Well that simply is not true.”
Coun. Janine Haughton explained that an info booth was set up in the park
on July 1 last year, and about 100 people joined in to “put a dot” on their favourite de-sign.
“We should take re-sponsibility for the fact that maybe we haven’t put enough informa-tion out there for the public,” said Haughton.
“But the communi-ty can also take some responsibility because they haven’t come to the meetings, read or looked at the plan until now.”
Scott Sommerville, CAO for the village resolved that the park designer was specifi-cally asked to stay away from Legion property, and he would contact her to amend the plan.
The heated delega-tion concluded with a comment from a con-cerned ball player.
“Everyone is pres-ent because they care about the park and want to see improve-ment,” she said.

‘Rough Rider’ (recycled metal)
First time Sculpturewalk participant Al Kuhl has created a sleek and sexy work that will grab the attention of those who long to savour the wind in their hair, dream of future road trip adventures or recapture the glory of past youth.
‘Rough Rider’ pays homage to the classic motorcycles of the 40’s and 50’s – Harley Davidsons, Nortons and Indians – using reclaimed metal. e sculpture beguiles and invites view-ers to physically interact with it, to sit astride the lowslung beast and grasp the handlebars while letting their imagination run wild.
Kuhl has created a muscular yet stylish work: large spoked metal wheels an-chor it front and back while menacing exhaust pipes ow gracefully from the angled barrel body, the skin of a seat (actually an old tractor seat) behind it. A thick coil on the front forks acts as suspension, o setting the bold and prominent headlight - achieved by riveting two kitchen pots, one copper one stainless steel, inside one another.
It is all tied together by tubular metal leading to the curved handlebars; bits and pieces simulate the engine within the triangular frame.
Although he has been sculpting for about 30 years, Kuhl still considers it a hobby rst and foremost. “I’ve done garden pieces and the like for family and friends for years now,” he says with a chuckle. “I’ll see an old set of prun-ing shears or something similar and think to myself, ‘ at could be a nice bird’s beak, or maybe its legs at a cer-tain angle.’ O en, it ends up not being a bird at all by the time I’m nished, but something else entirely.”
Displaying a number of his sculptures at a ‘Made In Canada’ arts and cra s fair held on Canada Day in Kelowna’s Riverfront Park a couple of years ago made him realize his hobby could turn into full time work once he retires from his nine to ve job. “I sold a number of pieces there and got a lot of positive feedback, so you never know,” he al-lows. “Right now it is something I do in my spare time, but I enjoy it, so…” He leaves the thought un nished de-liberately.
‘Rough Rider’ was originally created for the local Gallery 2 Spring Art Exhibit, although the piece has been in Kuhl’s mind for some time. “I’ve always loved bikes, especially the older bomber style ones,” says Kuhl. “ ey are basic in their structure but have great lines, and I’ve tried to capture that in this work.”
He has succeeded admirably. ‘Rough Rider’ looks as if it is ready to acceler-ate from its pedestal, which invites the viewer to climb aboard for a photo op-portunity. Whether astride or viewed traditionally, Kuhl’s piece is beautifully constructed. Its elegant, simple lines are masculine and strong, capturing bikes of another era by using pieces from the present with air and imagi-nation.

‘Tree of Light’ (steel/halogen bulbs)
Winlaw sculptor Carl Schlichting al-ways thinks big. Last year he gave us the twelve foot QR, a massive vertical steel pipe bursting volcano-like at the top end, spewing replicated fragments above it. at work was purchased by the City of Nelson and installed in the refurbished Railtown section at the west end of Baker Street. is year is no di erent in the scope and size of his installation.
“Fine, exact detail isn’t really my style when sculpting,” he says chuckling. “For a living, I produce very exacting mounts and xtures for art and mu-seum xtures, so my art tends to go the other way. I create large pieces that have a central feature and multiples expanding from it to provide contrast and diversity.”
‘Tree of Light’ is ambitious, in keeping with Schlichting’s creative style. He’s taken re-twisted steel I-beams and angled and shaped them to emulate the trunk and main branches. From this starting point, he has attached spring steel whip ‘branches’ and festooned
them with ‘leaves’ created from chrome car bumpers.
Burnt out halogen lights, the bulbs re-moved so that they resemble blossoms, are interspersed with the leaves along the lighter exible branches, provid-ing movement and contrast. e en-tire work is approximately twelve feet squared, set on a contrasting piece of stone. e nished e ect is magical, impressive in its presentation and pres-ence; a tree of light that dances, sways and shimmies.
Schlichting’s background – one of a number of prairie-raised siblings all blessed with artistic talent, in addition to a distinguished career as a museum artifacts conservator – is the nurturing point at the heart of his creative talents. It is obviously in the genes. is year will see his daughter Simone display her own sculpture at the event.“We are stylistically quite di erent,” he says straightforwardly. “Her art as a jeweller is on a smaller scale, delicate with strong lines, but she’s a real talent and I’m very proud of her.”
Inspired by his siblings in part, Schli-chting moved to the west coast to study art at Langara College. He transferred his knowledge into an artistic career, treating and mounting artifacts at numerous museums and galleries in Canada, the United States and at stops overseas. Now, he is content to stick close to home in his Slocan Valley studio, re-working reclaimed steel and metal into imaginative sculptures.
‘Tree of Light’ is exactly that, a owing, exible work that incorporates move-ment and static elements. It displays Schlichting’s vision and ingenuity well in developing large-scale, expansive steel-based works that stem from his love of working in his favourite me-dium. e addition of other materials adds to the overall e ect. His entry here personi es his creativity and dexterity in thinking and sculpting writ large.

ARIES (MAR 21 – APR 20)The effects of this transformational time are evident to many and are most likely so to you. This will prove especially true over the next few weeks. Your energy levels stand to be running high and this is contributing to a punchy, rebellious and impulsive mood. The release valve to this high pressure system is to focus on your own change and avoid projecting on to others.
TAURUS (APR 20 – MAY 21)If you have not already made good of this extra expansive cycle that has been lingering since last year, now is your opportu-nity. You know that saying: “if you snooze you lose…” well take it as a hint. The creative potential of this time requires that you dig a little deeper and push a little harder, maybe even a lot of both. Carpe diem!
GEMINI (MAY 21 – JUN 21)This New Moon in your sign should come as a welcome break. This is your heads-up to make the most of it and perhaps cover lost ground. The pace may have been frustrating over the past while in terms of progress. At best it has been a time of seeds and germination. Now the sprouts are coming through. Expect accelerated growth.
CANCER (JUN 21 – JUL 22)You are entering an extra delicate period. You may have to dip even deeper into your inner reservoir of faith. Prayer, meditation, retreat, more rest time, reaching out for support, exercising positive thoughts and spoken words and, per-haps above all keeping your imagination in check are all the types of answers that will prove valuable at this time.
LEO (JUL 22 – AUG 23)Change continues to snap and crackle in the air. Some of it is intentional and due to your own deliberate choices and actions while some of it may be taking you by surprise. The time is right to increase your scope of communications and extend your reach beyond familiar bounds. Diplomacy remains extra important and includes win/win negotiations.
VIRGO (AUG 23 – SEP 22)Your public and professional spheres will be activated by this lunar cycle, in a big way. It is important that you be focused and disci-plined and that you do your homework. This includes research, training, outreach and calculated risk taking. If you are not as sure of your direction as you would like, focus to determine what seems best and ask for guidance as necessary.
LIBRA (SEP 22 – OCT 22)Your energy levels have been rising and this trend will continue. This new cycle will present the opportunities and inspiration to break through inner and outer lines of resistance. The inner lines include potentially limiting beliefs, attitudes, perceptions and self-concepts. Intend to keep an open mind, listen more, talk less create a dynamic momentum.
SCORPIO (OCT 22 – NOV 21)A deep theme called ‘the dual desires of the soul’ is not only a core life theme, it is very active now. It implies the process of deciphering whether it is better to move away from or towards the source. Both have their time and place. Moving towards source is deeper and more serious yet can prove very empowering while moving away if more, well… out there. Your call!
SAGITTARIUS (NOV 21 – DEC 21)A good deal of stimulating events and activity on relationship fronts should be keeping you busy now and over the coming weeks. This is likely to be an expansive and opportune time. This cycle began last year actually and now is coming to yet another peak. Yet, it is important that you are willing and actively letting go of and in fact clearing the old to make way for the new.
CAPRICORN (DEC 21 – JAN 19)You have entered an important cycle calling for improvement. This can apply to a variety of fronts yet is most likely to be needed in the overall quality of your lifestyle. By extension it is your daily rhythm and routine that requires your attention and this includes your work or job. Fortunately, this is an extra creative cycle. Be willing to give a lot to receive.
AQUARIUS (JAN 19 – FEB 19)If you feel due for some added playtime in your life, get excited because the opportunity for some has arrived. The season and the stars both are in alignment for fun. This inspirational wave can also be used for more serious creative self-expression. Yet, for balance at least some measures of social activity and cultural stimulation will provide the seasoning in the mix.
PISCES (FEB 19 – MAR 20)The creative focus and potential of this cycle will be evident close to home. However, since home is where your heart is, literally, it could produce an urge to reach out and cover new ground as well. Your ambitions should be on the steady rise as well so you will feel moved to be productive. If you can, focus on the home front rst.

Horoscope for the Week June 7, 2013Horoscope for theTip of the Week: The rst of two eclipse seasons of cially ends tomorrow at the exact moment of the New Moon. It occurs in Gemini at 8:56 am PDT. Although the three eclipses are behind us, two lunar and a solar in between, do you think they left an impression? Like sh in water contending with new currents, the effects can be subtle especially when it is unclear what to look for or expect. But with a little bit of awareness we can see and feel and notice and realize the activations that have taken place leaving their mark and in uence forever more. While this can be said of any moment or event in time, some time periods are much more impactful than others. So, however these eclipses were destined to in uence us in the respective ways they would, according to our respective destinies, the season is now over and the torch has been passed awaiting it’s time to re-ignite the next eclipse season of 2013 which occurs on October 18th starting with a Lunar Eclipse in Aries followed by a Solar Eclipse two weeks later on November 3rd in Scorpio. In the meantime, we are back to regular New and Full Moons which can still be impactful and which invariably play key roles as well. From a wider angle, 2013 is proving to be very eventful so far and this trend will escalate let alone continue. This rst year of a whole new era, according to Mayan Cosmology, is certainly living up to its forecast as a transformational one. As well, the Year of the Chinese Water Snake in which a shedding of old skins both individually and collectively is destined to occur should be quite evident by now. That the snake year tends to have a back and forth sort of wiggle and shake effect, producing a wavering sense of con dence and with considerable intensity all makes sense according to what I see occurring. How about you?

Choosing the right bathing suit
Bathing suit season is on the horizon and summer fun might drive some into a panic. However, there are bathing suit styles that enhance what you want to show off and conceal what you want to camouflage.
The first step in choosing a bathing suit is to make an accurate assessment of your body shape. Stand in front of the mirror without any clothes on and figure out which features define your physique. Perhaps your bust is large, or you have more curve in your hips. Maybe you are tall and lanky. Taking note of your body will help narrow down your swimsuit options.
Next, go through your current swimsuit collection and find out which bathing suit you’ve worn in the past has best suited your shape or earned you a few compliments. You may want to choose the style that is the most comfortable and supportive. When selecting a new suit, choose one that is similar in cut to your favorite.
Swimsuits are designed to fit snugly and are made from elasticized fabric. Chlorinated water or saltwater can either shrink fabric over time or allow it to wear out and sag. Be honest about your current clothing size and consider buying a swimsuit in one size larger so it won’t cut off your circulation or make you appear uncomfortable.
You also want to be reasonable about which styles you can wear. That will be dictated by shape and also by the activities you plan to
do in the swimsuit. For example, if you live an active lifestyle and surf or play water sports, a supportive, one-piece style swimsuit may be a smart choice. If you have a large bust or one that is extremely small, you may want to avoid revealing bikini tops, which may look overly filled or not filled out at all.
Here are some other tips based on body type.
* Plus size: Choose a one-piece style that features a single color that is the polar opposite of your skin tone. Fair-skinned people should look for darker colors, while dark-toned individuals should select brighter colors. Try to find a suit that is fitted at the waistline to slim you in this area.
* Short legs: High-cut leg openings on swimsuits help to elongate the legs and make you appear taller.
* Small bust: Select a bikini top that has triangular-shaped cups, ruffles or a tie-front to add a little bulk to the area.
* Large bust: Choose a top that comes with a supportive bra -- those mesh bras in most bathing suits won’t keep the breasts contained and supported. Many bathing suit manufacturers now offer swimsuits with more substantial bras inside.
* Pear shape: Emphasize the top of your body with a bold color or pattern and downplay the bottom with a dark shade.
* Short torso: Select a two-piece suit that draws attention to the chest and shoulders and a bottom that sits lower on the hips to elongate the torso.
There is no right shape when it comes to wearing a bathing suit. It’s possible for anyone to look flattering when hitting the beach or lounging poolside.
