What is a CASA? CASA stands for court appointed special advocate. Last year, 247 children were placed in foster care in Linn County. Victims of child abuse and neglect, they have done nothing wrong. Next thing they know they are in court. Who speaks for the child? A CASA does. Appointed by the court, CASAs protect the best interest of children in the foster care system. CASAs represent the voice of the child.

CASA of Linn County, Inc., is a non-profit organiza-tion that supports volunteers who advocate for the best interest of abused and neglected children under the protection of the Juvenile Court. CASAs receive access to everyone who is a part of the child's life, so they can fully understand what is best for him or her. Foster parents, teachers, medical personnel, family members, will all come to know the CASA. The purpose of the CASA organization is to secure a safe, permanent home for every child in foster care, as quickly as possible. Right now, there are 159 children waiting for a CASA in Linn County. Last year, 81 CASA

volunteers served 153 abused and neglected chil-dren in the community. CASA believes that every child has the right to feel safe and loved, so they can learn and grow to become responsible caring adults. CASA volunteers are fierce advocates in the fight for the rights of these children. Research has shown that a child with a CASA vol-unteer is more likely to find a safe, permanent home, and will spend substantially less time in foster care. To help support the ongoing challenges of advo-cating for children in the foster care system, CASA holds several fundraising events during the year. In April, CASA will host the ASK Luncheon. Sponsorship opportunities are still available for those who would like to be a part of this event. During the summer months, CASA holds the CASA Casino Royale in June, and the popular family event Cruise for CASA in July. We hope you will join us in supporting this vital organization and their ded-icated CASA volunteers, who lift up a child's voice and life. CASA welcomes new volunteers. To be a CASA volunteer, all that is required is a desire to help abused children. To learn more about Linn County CASA or to make a donation, visit www.linncasa.org.

members to Western States Insurance. It is an honor for us to feature CASA, a local non-profit organization. CASA supports volunteers that make life changing differences in the lives of children in the foster care system. Stutzman Services is a name recognized by many. This company has been in the valley for decades. Pro-viding the best possible service, products and exper-tise to their customers, Stutzman Services gives back to the local community in many ways. Most importantly we want to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued loyalty and support. It is our ongoing goal to provide our clients value-added services, and the personalized assistance we believe every client deserves.

In the area of landscaping, more emphasis has been placed on designing sustainable landscapes and outdoor living spaces. “More than ever, people are finding value in developing their residence to create usable and en-joyable out-door living spaces,” says Bill Marshall, landscape de-signer. “We keep the client very involved in the process and provide comprehen-sive designs that are a direct result of that personal interaction,” concludes Marshall. Members of the Stutzman team volunteer annu-ally, to give presentations on career possibilities and guidance in the field of landscape design and build, for horticulture students at Linn Benton Community College in Albany. funds to create gardens throughout the community in support of non-profit organizations and local events. We'd like to name a few: Mighty Oaks Discovery Gar-den, Master Gardner Display for the Linn County Fair and Expo. Stutzman Services is currently involved in the beautiful landscaping at the new Samaritan Ever-green Hospice House in Albany, Oregon. Stutzman Services operates with the highest stan-dards for customer service and quality of work. The recent addition of “Stutzman Services University” en-sures that all team members meet these standards and are well trained and courteous. Stutzman Services stays current on new products and techniques, such as Constant Pressure Pumping Systems and Hybrid Water Heaters, allowing them to confidently provide the best solutions for their customers. “We have worked very hard at becoming inten-tional about every detail of plumbing service and re-pair,” says Brent Stutzman, plumbing service manager. “Aside from having fully staffed, certified plumbing technicians around the clock, at Stutzman Services, you will find clean, timely, courteous technicians that are trained to diagnose all areas of plumbing and provide a fixed price up front before they ever start work,” Stutzman explains. “Our customers have really responded positively to our improved approach.” Stutzman Services is unique in that they can ser-vice all water needs inside and out. “The ability to address the pump that supplies the water, treat the quality of that water, and install or service the plumbing within the home or business has been the single greatest asset to our customers,” explains Dale Aerni, water systems manager. “To our knowledge, no other company in our area can provide that. We have recently constructed a state-of-the-art call center, so every customer talks to a live person and receives the service they deserve. We are very proud of that,” states Aerni.
