WHAT IS ASAP?Did you know that the path to earning an associate degree can be long and sometimes hard? Only 40% of community college students in the U.S. earn their associate degree in six years. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Since 2007, Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) has been transforming the college experience of CUNY students, helping thousands to graduate in three years or less.*
WHAT MAKES ASAP UNIQUE?As an ASAP student, you will receive a variety of supports to help you succeed:
A free unlimited MetroCard
A textbook voucher
A tuition gap waiver*
A dedicated ASAP advisor
Early registration options and consolidated schedules
Classes with fellow ASAP students
Career development and academic support services
*For students in receipt of financial aid
IS THERE A CATCH? Not at all! In exchange for ALL these resources, you will need to:
Enroll full time (minimum 12 credits) each semester and maintain good academic standing
Complete any developmental course needs within the first year
Meet regularly with your advisor and attend any required ASAP activities
Re-apply for financial aid each year

ASAP is here to help you pay for your textbooks, get the classes you need when you need them, and encourage you to keep going when things get rough. * Students who join ASAP at College of Staten Island will have the opportunity to earn both an associate and bachelor’s degree within four years.
AM I ELIGIBLE FOR ASAP?You may be eligible for ASAP if you answer YES to all of the following questions:
Are you a New York City resident and/or eligible for in-state tuition?
Do you agree to enter into a full-time associate degree program (minimum of 12 credits per semester) in an ASAP-approved major? Most majors qualify!
Are you fully skills proficient or have no more than two outstanding developmental course needs in reading, writing, and math based on CUNY Assessment Test scores?*
If you are a continuing or transfer student, do you have no more than 15 college credits and a minimum 2.0 GPA?

HOW CAN ASAP BENEFIT ME?
HOW DO I BECOME AN ASAP STUDENT?If you think you meet ASAP eligibility requirements, follow these six easy steps to get started:
1 Apply to a CUNY college that has ASAP at www.cuny.edu/admissions.
2 Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid at www.fafsa.gov and the New York State Tuition Assistance Program application at www.hesc.ny.gov.
3 Accept your offer of admission.
4 Complete all admissions requirements, including the CUNY Assessment Tests, if necessary. For more information on testing visit www.cuny.edu/academics/testing.html.
5 Check your college’s ASAP website for up-to-date information about any college-specific requirements.
* Students with two developmental course needs at time of application must enroll in at least one of their required courses in the summer or winter before program entry. Visit your college’s ASAP website to learn about any college-specific requirements.
BUILD YOUR NETWORKSuccessful people often have large networks that provide support and connections to jobs and resources. ASAP fosters relationships to other CUNY students, faculty, and staff to help you begin building these important connections now.
SAVE MONEYASAP reduces the cost of college to almost zero for most students by covering any financial aid gap (for those in receipt of aid), books, and transportation.
GO FARTHER FASTERASAP students graduate and transfer to baccalaureate degree programs or enter the workforce at twice the rate of similar students. The faster you earn your degree, the sooner you can start your career and watch your earnings rise.
