WHAT’S ON OUR TABLE?November was a busy one around the DVG office. We have been finalizing the Sherman Leader pack
out, and delivery of games should be happening in the beginning of this month. Corsair Leader has
been our focus. We have been working steadily on it to get it Kickstarter ready.
Corsair Leader - Playtesting everyday is happening in the office. We are making some major
changes from past Leader games both on the Tactical layer.
As most Sites only have a range of 0, it made the Approach to the Target monotonous. The idea
now is to add some variance to each Mission. Built into the Sites counters, there are “opportunities”
you place. These throw a wrench into your Mission planning, as you may have wanted to avoid the
Northern Approach, however, if you bomb that area, you’ll take out a vital supply line, gaining an
additional Victory Point.
Another major change, is introducing Down in Flames
mechanics to the Dogfighting between your aircraft and the enemy
bandits. Instead of making a die roll to shoot at a bandit, you can
perform a maneuver against them (Tight Turn, Barrel Roll, In My
Sights, Half Loop...) This means that you can also hold positioning
on each other, (Tailing, Advantaged, Neutral, Advantaged, Tailed)
Also, depending on the year you are flying, there will be
different enemy Bandits. There are now
Newbie/Green/Average/Skilled/Veteran/Ace level bandits with
different modifiers. In ‘41, there are more Veteran/Ace Bandits
compared to the 0 that exist in ‘45.
Finally, there is the “Gung Ho!” ability that each pilot has,
some have more, some less. If you are facing a dire situation,
instead of rolling, you may instead use a Gung Ho! to set the roll
to a 10 or 1. Let’s say an enemy Bandit is on you, going for the
death blow to one of your unlucky Newbies, instead of risking his
safety, you can use his Gung Ho! to force the enemy bandit to
miss!
Warfighter: Fantasy - Adding in the Wizard class to the Tactical and Strategic layer.
Tactically, they will need to gain new skills as the level up, as opposed to the Cleric having his from
the get go.
Warfighter: WWII Wave 2 -The cards are being created by Holly Verssen as I(Kevin) type
this. There are going to be a huge amount of cards!

Designer and Developer Notes:Dan Verssen
It's been a busy month! Most of the pallets for the Sherman Leader shipment have arrived!
Unfortunately, the freight warehouse has lost 6 pallets and they
have been looking for them all week without success. We
mailed all the orders that did not include those games, and we'll
mail the others as soon as we receive the missing pallets. The
warehouse has teams coming in on the weekend to search for
them, so we hope to have good news on Monday.
Kevin and I have been deep into the Corsair Leader
design, and it is looking great! We've added a Dogfight system,
as well as a special "Gung Ho" heroic skill for pilots! The
Japanese Bandit counters have different skill ratings from
Newbie through Ace that adjust their ratings. For added realism,
the game will come with a different mix of Bandit counters for
1942, 1943, 1944, and 1945 to show the degradation of
Japanese pilot quality as the war wore on. Also, when you shoot
down a Veteran or Ace level Bandit, you remove that counter
from the campaign. This adds a personal feel to the game not
before seen in Leader games.
I have also been working on Warfighter Fantasy's spell
system for Wizards. This game is going to be awesome! And huge! The core game is looking to have
over 300 cards! We’ll have playtest photos soon!
Holly VerssenThis has been a wonderful month working with games from the past, present, and future.
We finally got (most) of the Sherman Leader games delivered to us. After a few “forhead banging
on desk” moments between DVG and the printing company, we are happy to be able to deliver the
games to those wonderfully generous and supportive people that backed us on Kickstarter. Thank you all
again.
The current game on the table is Corsair Leader. This takes all the current Leader series rules back
to World War II. Easy to do? No. WWII has a very different feel from modern air combat. Ranges, the
types of targets, and of course the types of weapons are so different from modern combat that it
necessitated completely different mechanics and math to make the game feel right yet remain in balance.
Dan and Kevin have worked non-stop on its design. Seriously, like EVERY conversation. They talked
about Corsair Leader WHILE we were decorating our house for Christmas.
Finally, we get to the Furture. David Makin delivered a wonderful spreadsheet filled with
Warfighter WWII wave 2 information. It lets me turn his formulas, creativity and art into new Soldiers,
Weapons, and Hostiles.
The soldiers coming to life on my screen match the skills and equipment found in the photos of
WWII soldiers that have been found and sent in. I am grateful for all the family photos of fathers,
grandfathers, and friends sent to us by our Warfighter fans, to be included in this game. Keep them
coming.
The Missions, Objectives, and Locations in the Far East create a new narrative, like Beach
Landings, Dense Jungle, and Tunnel Combat.

Day 1 Recon Photos
Day 1Three Missions were flown on day one in an attempt to neutralize some of the enemy special capabilities.
There was reduced Enemy Air cover on the first day.
Mission 1
Was flown against the enemy Command Unit designated 1C located in the Enemy Rear.
Pilots and Aircraft assigned to mission:
1 AH-64D flown by Capt. Cougar
1 AC-130 flown by Maj. Neon
1 MQ-1
The mission benefited from a UAV fly over on the way to the target. The Scout assigned was very
successful in identifying the enemy positions. (rolled a 9). All of the enemy SAM sites were neutralized at
the opening of the engagement. All other forces were destroyed in the following passes. All enemy units
were successfully wiped out. The only damage taken by friendly aircraft was minor structure damage to the
AC-130 (1 structure point).
Mission 2
Was flown against an enemy Fast Assault Battalion designated 9A, located in the Front Line.
Pilots and Aircraft assigned to mission:
1 AV-8B flown by Capt. Pro
1 AH-64A flown by Capt. Shadow
The mission was aided by F-15 air cover on the way to the target. The enemy battalion was effectively
destroyed with only a truck and an APC able to escape the area. Both pilots were able to leave the area
right before going bingo on fuel. It is recommended that both Capt. Pro and Capt. Shadow put in time at the
gunnery range. Both pilots missed a lot of targets which is what resulted in them almost going bingo on fuel.
Mission 3
Flown against enemy Artillery Unit designated 1S, located in the enemy transit area.
Pilots and Aircraft assigned to mission:
1 A-10A flown by Capt. Thor
1 AH-64D flown by Capt. Rock
The mission was preceded by a MLRS bombardment of the target area. The Scout was successful in
identifying enemy units in the area (rolled a 6). The MLRS bombardment was extremely successful
(destroyed 8 units). Capt. Thor and Capt. Rock were able to mop up the few remaining units of the battalion.
The enemy battalion was completely wiped out with no survivors. Capt. Rock’s Apache took AAA fire on the
way back to base damaging one of the aircrafts Pylons.
Day 2 Recon photos
Day 2Two missions were flown on day two. Both against enemy assault units that had advanced into the Friendly
Transit Zone.
Moral of all personal was improved by receiving E-Mail from home.
Mission 4
Flown against an enemy Tank Spearhead designated 6A, located in the Friendly Transit Zone.
Pilots and Aircraft assigned to the mission:
1 A-10A flown by Capt. Thor
1 AH-64A flown by Capt. Shadow
1 AC-130 flown by Maj. Neon
The Scout was very successful in identifying the enemy units in the area (rolled an 8). On the way to the
target Capt. Thor was able to intercept and destroy a SAM attack. Once over the target all enemy units
were destroyed. An Infantry unit poped up out of now were and was able to put some bullet holes in Capt.
Thor’s Thunderbolt. No other damage was taken by any friendly aircraft. The pilots had to avoid Enemy
fighters on the way back to base and were able to do so without incident. Promotion orders came in for all
three pilots and the ceremony was held upon their return.
Mission 5
Flown against an Enemy Infantry Force designated 1A, located in the Friendly Transit Zone.
Pilots and Aircraft assigned to the mission:
AV-8B Flown by Capt. Genius
AH-64D Flown by Capt. Cougar
AH-64D Flown by Capt. Rock
MQ-1
The Scout was successful in identifying the enemy units in the area (rolled a 4). The Harrier was forced to
engage and destroy an enemy SAM Vehicle on approach to the target. The mission was a success with the
complete destruction of the enemy battalion. Capt. Rock’s AH-64D took some structure and controls damage
during the attack. While returning to base a target of opportunity was spotted and all remaining ordinance
was expended to destroy an enemy supply convoy. Capt. Rock and Capt. Cougar were both promoted upon
returning to base.
Friendly forces were able to get a resupply into the base at the end of the day. So far the squadron was
responsible for the destruction of five enemy battalions.
Maintenance requests at the end of day two:
The bullet holes were patched on the A-10A
The controls were repaired on Apache 890
Day 3 Recon photos
Day 3Three missions were flown on day three. The enemy was continuing to advance on the air base
necessitating the need to fly three missions in order to slow down the enemy advance. The three battalions
attacked had all entered the Friendly Transit Zone. The Missions on day three were aided by friendly Hornet
Support.
Mission 6
Flown against a Mounted Infantry battalion designated 5A, located in the friendly transit zone.
Pilots and aircraft assigned to the mission:
AV-8B flown by Capt. Genius
AC-130 flown by Lt. Col. Neon
MQ-1
The Scout was extremely successful in identifying enemy units (rolled a 9). The mission had additional
support provided by F-15 air cover. While the mission was a success and enough of the enemy battalion
was destroyed to make it combat ineffective, some enemy forces were able to get away. Capt. Genius went
up with a faulty ECM pod on his Harrier as it failed to affect any of the attacks that were directed his way.
The Harrier sustained severe damage during the mission, resulting in structure, Display, HUD, and Cannon
damage. The MQ-1 suffered HUD damage and bullet holes. The Harrier was forced to leave the area do to
damage sustained. The AC-130 left the area after all remaining targets hid in cover so that he could not
engage.
Upon returning to base the air craft were given Maintenance Priority. The structure damage on the AC-130,
HUD damage on the MQ-1, and Display damage on the AV-8B were repaired.
Mission 7
Flown against an Engineer Unit designated 6S, located in the Friendly Transit Zone
Pilots and aircraft assigned to the Mission:
AH-64D flown by Maj. Cougar
AH-64D flown by Maj. Shadow
Maj. Cougar had to expend two AGM-114s on the way to the target to engage an enemy SAM vehicle.
Cougar and Shadow made short work of the enemy battalion completely destroying it with no survivors. No
damage was inflicted on friendly aircraft during the engagement.
While returning to base Cougar and Shadow were able to successfully avoid Enemy Fighters that were
patrolling the area.
Mission 8
Flown against an enemy Reserves unit designated 7S, located in the Friendly Transit Zone
Pilots and aircraft assigned to the Mission:
A-10A flown by Maj. Thor
AH-64A flown by Maj. Rock
The Scout pilot has been put in for an Air Medal for his efforts during this mission (rolled a 10). A UAV Fly
Over also helped with initial targeting for the mission. Maj. Thor had a close call from enemy ground fire but
the aircraft took no damage (+2 stress). The enemy battalion was destroyed without any other issues.
Day 4 Recon photos
Day 4Two missions were flown on day four against a Dismounted unit that had moved into the Friendly Transit
Zone and against a Tank Force on the Front Line. Day four missions were aided by the launching of a Major
Friendly Offensive trying to reconnect with the cut off air base.
Mission 9
Flown against an enemy Tank Force designated 2A, located on the Front Line
Pilots and aircraft assigned to the Mission:
A-10A flown by Maj. Thor
AH-64D flown by Maj. Shadow
AH-64D flown by Maj. Cougar
MQ-1
Scout aircraft once again proved invaluable (rolled an 8) and was able to find a Low Level Approach to the
target. Continued operations while being cut off must be getting to the pilots, Gun cam footage shows that
all pilots involved in the mission were having difficulty with being able to acquire and engage targets. The
enemy battalion was rendered combat ineffective but just barely. Almost all aircraft involved in the operation
sustained damage. The A-10 suffered control damage. The MQ-1 suffered engine damage. AH-64D
number 890 suffered severe damage when an AAA popped up in his area causing structure damage and
damaging two pylons.
There was a B-52 Strike in the area but was unable to be directed on to a target.
Mission 10
Flown against an enemy Dismounted force designated 7A, located in the Friendly Transit Zone.
Pilots and aircraft assigned to the mission:
AV-8B flown by Capt. Pro
AH-64A flown by Maj. Rock
AC-130 flown by Lt. Col. Neon
The Scout aircraft was successful in identifying the enemy positions (rolled a 5). Lt. Col. Neon was able to
use some Creative Navigation to increase the time over the target. The flight made short work of the enemy
battalion completely destroying all enemy units. No friendly aircraft were damaged during the mission but
Maj. Rock did take a near miss from enemy ground fire (1 stress). The flight was successful in avoiding
Enemy Fighters while returning back to base.
Thanks to the Major Friendly Offensive more supplies were able to make it through to the air base.
Unfortunately not enough to be able to fully repair all of the damage the aircraft of the squadron had
sustained so far. Priorities had to be made as far as what was able to be fixed.
Maintenance requests at the end of day four:
The engine was repaired on the MQ-1
The Pylon was repaired on AH-64D number 891
The HUD was repaired on the AV-8B
By the end of day four, the Pilots of Air Base Fox were responsible for the destruction of ten enemy
battalions
Day 5 Recon photo
Day 5Only one mission for today, against the last remaining enemy battalion, a Forward Base in the Friendly
Transit Zone. Capt. Genius was sent to the flight surgeon do to fears that he had become overly stressed.
The flight surgeon gave him a clean bill of health, and he came back Reporting For Duty before the mission
started. Satellite Recon Data was available for the mission today.
Mission 11
Flown against an enemy Forward Base designated 6C, located in the Friendly Transit Zone
Pilots and aircraft assigned to the mission
A-10A flown by Maj. Thor
AH-64D flown by Maj. Shadow
AH-64A flown by Maj. Cougar
AV-8B flown by Capt. Genius
AC-130 flown by Lt. Col. Neon
MQ-1
AH-64D number 890 was determined to not be flight worthy
The Scout aircraft come through again identifying the enemy units and a Low Level Approach. This allowed
the squadron to take the enemy battalion by surprise. The enemy battalion was wiped out before it was able
to fire a shot. No aircraft were damaged during the attack. Upon returning to base the squadron received
Supply Priority, allowing them to start getting back to full operational status.
The siege of Forward Airbase Fox was over.
