Greeting Whovians and welcome to our first issue of “Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey!”

We’ve regenerated from older, rub-bish fanzine to a brand new, not try-ing to be professional piece! There were many problems with Reverse the Polarity that led to its closure. Firstly someone else was using the name long before us and it began to look very unprofessional at fanzine levels: missing text, spelling errors to name but a few. But now we’ve learnt from our mistakes and are now bringing the completely original WWTW!

As a fan we’re currently being “spoilt.” Each day we are being given more news about the upcoming season, wether it’s through tweets, clips, trailers or magazines, and on top of that we also have Torchwood back on our screens! For more Torch-wood goodness we host the only Torchwood fanzine, and magazine called “The Hub” which is currently running weekly alongside Miracle Day. Check it out on our website if you haven’t already!

We will also end up having a period of Torchwood and Doctor Who run-ning at the same time. Being the sea-son starts on the 27th, (I’m in Ibiza when it starts but I have been reas-sured that the place will have global television and Wi-Fi,) Torchwood will still be running on British and Ameri-can TV. With Torchwood wrapping up on September 15th, we will truly be spoilt rotten over the coming month.

WWTW has a bright future ahead with a whole host of interviews on its way. Later this year we will be talking to Tom MacRae- writer of “The Girl Who Waited,” and we have also been privileged to be inter-viewing the guests at Whoovervile 3 which vary from Nicola Bryant to Frazier Hines to the amazing Ian Mcnice, (Winston Churchill.) We are also working on an 8th Doctor Audio special with Big Finish Productions featuring interviews with, so far, Alex Malinson and Barnaby Edwards.

This issue is unfortunately lacking in the interview department but we still have a whole host of exciting fea-tures. Firstly we delve into the past few weeks Doctor Who news span-ning from the S6 news from Comic Con, why Ecceleston left, the new executive producer, episode teasers from twitter, merchandise, Sarah-Jane and much more. Further to this, we look back at S6 so far in “Sixth Coming” which consists of episode reviews and tiny anecdotes of my viewing of the season. We then look at why Rory is so awesome and re-port from our travels to London Film and Comic Con 2011 in which I was honoured to meet Karen Gillan and other Doctor Who legends.

After one of my most exciting travels we bring you an unofficial fiction based on what happened in the gap between “The Impossible Astronaut” and “Day of the Moon” in Tally-marks. On top of this, we analyse the SDCC trailer in our S6.2 “preview”/fan overview with my opinions and theories of what will happen next. For those wanting to avoid spoilers, please skip this section. We end with a healthy dose of reviews span-ning from books, toys, audios and

magazines including a few “fewer than 100 word” bitesize reviews of fan productions and the previously mentioned content.

We hope you enjoy this issue and if you did why not tweet us @RTPProductions using the hashtag “WWTW1.” If you are interested in contributing to the fanzine or want to send us a question for our inter-views, you can of course tweet us or email us at [email protected] . We also take any comments or letters you would like us to feature as well as any Doctor Who themed content!

Enjoy the summer and the new season of Doctor Who as of the 27th, and lets all go and KILL HITLER!!!

and Alex Kingston. If you’re reading this then you most likely

This “Doctor Who Sum-mary” breaks down all

we know. And this article may contain spoilers. No-

it will, ish.

BBC reveals Season OverviewIn the new press release, along-side a preview poster, the BBC has revealed an “overview synopsis” for the coming six episodes...

“The wait is almost over. The second part of the thrilling new series of Doctor Who begins on 27 August 2011. “The rules have changed, and the

game is deadlier than ever. Out in the universe, where the earthly rules of time and space do not apply, Amy and Rory know only too well that their baby daughter needs them. For Melody Pond is destined to become River Song, mysterious archaeologist and convicted murderer – the woman who killed the best man she ever

knew… “The Doctor leads Amy and Rory across centuries and galaxies in a des-perate search for baby Melody, but a terrible and inescapable date looms large. At 5.02pm on 22nd April 2011, the Doctor will

die. These are his last days, and the quest for Melody his final mission. “The search will result in a crash landing in Thirties Berlin and

will bring them face to face with the greatest war criminal of all time. And Hitler. Old friendships will be tested to their limits as the Doctor suffers the ulti-mate betrayal and learns a harsh lesson in the cruellest warfare of all.

“A distress call from a terrified lit-tle boy will break through all bar-riers of time and space and lead the Doctor to visit the scariest place in the Universe. George’s bedroom. George is terrorised by every fear you can possibly imagine. Fears that live in his bedroom cupboard. His parents

“The trailer sees Matt Smith back in his wedding gear, an eye patch wearing River Song, Madame Kovarian, Rory punching Hitler, Dolls, Clowns, a

Minotaur, a weird garden to name but a few of the features.”

are desperate – George needs a doctor. But allaying George’s fears won’t be easy. Because the monsters in George’s cupboard are real. “An unscheduled visit to a quar-antine facility for victims of an alien plague – a plague that will kill the Doctor in a day – leaves Amy trapped. Alone, Rory must find Amy and bring her back to the TARDIS before the faceless doctors kill her with kindness. But Rory is about to encounter a very different side to his wife. “In an impossible hotel, the Doctor, Amy and Rory find them-selves checked-in but unable to check out. Walls move, corridors twist, rooms vanish and death lies in wait for every visitor. But the Doctor’s time has yet to come. He has one last stop to make on his final journey. His old friend, Craig Owens, desperately needs his help – a new and unfamiliar presence is wreaking havoc in Colchester. And then come the Cybermen. But time catches up with us all and the Doctor can delay no more. “By the shores of Lake Silencio, in Utah, all of time and space hang in the balance. And a

NASA astronaut is waiting…”

SDCC Mania! The biggest comic, science fiction and film convention saw leading actors Matt Smith and Karen Gil-lan attend with Piers Wenger and Beth Willis with Episode 11 writer Toby Whitehouse, (Being Human, School Reunion.) The “fivesome” brought two exclusive trailers/clips revealing further secrets from the season. The trailer sees Matt Smith back in his wedding gear, an eye patch wearing River Song, Madame Kovarian, Rory punching Hitler, Dolls, Clowns, a Minotaur, a weird garden to name but a few of the features. (Ed: a trailer breakdown appears later this issue.)

Toby also brought along what ap-peared to be more of a clip from “The God Complex” featuring the TARDIS threesome attempting to trap a Minotaur with the help from a nurse. We also saw the appearance of a clown and Rory holding a mop, but no fez. The clip, or as the BBC website claims it to be a “trailer” lasted two minutes and gave us a glimpse of what to expect later this series.

In an interview with SFX- writer of The God Complex Toby White-

house commented: “In my episode, the Doctor, Amy

and Rory find them-selves trapped in a

hotel, which looks like a 1980s

hotel, but the geography and layout

of it keeps shifting and

changing, so they’ve lost the

TARDIS. There’s also other people

trapped in there, two

humans and an alien, and also with them are nightmares. Each room contains a different night-mare. Some of these nightmares are the personal nightmares of the Doctor, Amy and Rory and the people in there, and other ones are nightmares of the people who have been in the maze before and died there.”

Further promotion outside of Comic Con aired earlier that week as part of the new Original Brit-ish Drama BBC trailer which saw eight seconds of Pond fighting the Handbots, Scenes from Mark Gattiss episode and the Doctor apparently about to kiss Craig.

Is Pond staying for S7?Karen Gillan, in an interview with “Zap2It” responded to the ques-tion: will you be returning she replied: “I am going to come back, yes. That’s the first time I’ve said that today”. This has led to vari-ous speculations as the actress has confirmed her involvement in John Osbourne’s 1964 play Inadmissible Evidence which runs from the 13th October to 26th November. Including re-hearsal time Gillan will be work-ing throughout September and October to work on the play, of course following the run. There is no further news on Rory’s return however Arthur commented he is leaving the show, so will the ponds be making a special ap-pearance later this year? Or will something happen to Mr Pond? The Doctor Who Christmas Spe-cial will be filmed around August/September and cannot be filmed any later due to editing and

promotion. Does this mean we will have a Pond-Free Christmas and then see the return in a later season around the summer or possibly the autumn?

Eceleston talks why he left Doctor Who (Contains Strong Language in the Quotes)During an acting master class, the ninth doc-tor actor Christopher Ecceleston revealed a key reason for leaving after one season as reported by Bad Wilf. Ecceleston stated: “I left Doctor Who, because I could not get along with the senior people. I left, because of politics. I did not see eye-to-eye, with them. I didn’t agree with the way things were being run. I didn’t like the culture that had grown up, around the series. So, I left. I felt, over a principle.

I thought to remain, which would have made me a lot of money and given me huge visibility, the price I would have had to pay, was to eat a lot of shit. I’m not being funny about that. I didn’t want to do that and, it comes to the art of it, in a way.

I feel that if you run your career and-we are vulnerable as actors and, we are constantly humiliat-ing ourselves auditioning. But, if you allow that to go on, on a grand scale. You will loose, what-ever it is about you and, it will be present in your work. If you allow your desire to be successful and visible and financially secure – if

you allow that to make you throw shades on your parents, on your upbringing, then you’re knack-ered. You’ve got to keep some-thing back, for yourself, because it’ll be present in your work. A

purity or an idealism is essential or you’ll become– you’ve got to have standards, no matter how hard work that is. So it makes it a hard road, really. You know, it’s easy to find a job when you’ve got no

morals, you’ve got nothing to be compromised, you can go, ‘Yeah, yeah. That doesn’t matter. That director can bully that prop man and I won’t say anything about it’. But then when that director comes to you and says ‘I think you should play it like this’ you’ve surely got to go ‘How can I respect you, when you behave like that?’ So, that’s why I left. My face didn’t fit and I’m sure they were glad to see the back of me.”

When later asked did he be-lieve he was proud with what he achieved the role he com-mented: “The important thing is that I succeeded. It was a great part. I loved playing him. I loved connecting with that audience. Because I’ve always acted for adults and the sudden-ly, you’re acting for children. Who are far more taste-ful, they will not be bullshit-ted. It’s either

good, or it’s bad. They don’t schmooze at after show parties, with cocktails.”

He also revealed he has been informed that he was part of the hacking scandal during his time as the Doctor and he will be talking legal action. New Executive Producer AnnouncedOn the 21st July 2011 the new Executive Producer for “Doctor Who” to take over from Piers Wenger and Beth Willis is Caro-line Skinner. Moffat commented: “The exec joining me on Doctor Who is Caroline Skinner - fresh from the wonderful Five Days, and still finishing up on a brand new show called The Fades (a fantasy horror series, written by Jack Thorne - I’ve seen episode 1, and it’s BRILLIANT.) Some-where between me laughing in a basement and choosing planets to invade, and Marcus Wilson raising armies, there has to be a Prime Minister actually running the whole thing. That’s the job Piers Wenger and Beth Willis have been doing so wonderfully for the last few years. Now that Piers is off to movie land, that’s the furnace Caroline will be walking into.”

Caroline will start work on the Christmas Special

alongside Piers Wenger and then will take full

charge of the next fourteen episodes

set in 2012 leading up to the 50th Anniversary

in which we have been repeatedly teased about

the year being highly exciting...

MacRae teases on twitterEpisode 10, “The Girl Who Wait-ed,” writer Tom MacRae gained 2000 followers by promising his fans teasers and quotes from his episode when reaching certain totals. He first teased: “My ep was NEVER called ‘The Green Anchor’, but the Green Anchor is very, VERY impor-tant! And also the best place to be.” Later that day he informed the fan community: “Amy’s favourite cat was called Biggles. What’s im-portant is – that’s the name she DIDN’T use later on...”

At 2000 followers he brought fans three quotes which are as fol-lowed:1. “How can you have a door without a wall?”2. “The Green Anchor…The Red Waterfall.”3. “You want to update Twitter!?”

In an interview with the North-ampton Chronicle he told the readers: “I went down onto the set quite a lot and it was great to see it filmed. It’s a real tear-jerker of an episode and it’s very much focused on Karen. Her acting in it is amazing. I know she’ll break the viewers’ hearts in two when they watch it, it’s so emotional.”

Moffat to push the “Anthology Mode”Moffat has teased at the Televi-sion Critics Association summer press tour that Doctor Who will mainly return to the stand-alone episodes rather than major long-term story arcs. Moffat comment-ed: “Tradition is the enemy of suspense. It’s the enemy of come-

dy. It’s the enemy of everything... It will always push back towards the anthology model. We’ve just amped it up to see what would happen.” He also commented R.E. River Song: “You think you know the truth about River. You don’t know it yet. There’s loads more to come.” Personally I will be upset

if story arcs vanish however I do love the classic theme and

if this is the case I will be excited to see how it will

all pan out...

Meanwhile, Moffat has entered the Guardian’s Me-

dia 100- a list of people they consider to be the most powerful people in UK Media. Moffat has entered the chart at 92. His de-scription states: “Steven Moffat is one of a select band of writers and producers who is almost as famous as the stars who appear in his shows.

Not content with being the showrunner on the BBC’s biggest-selling global hit, Doctor Who, he was also the co-creator, along with League of Gentlemen star Mark Gatiss, of one of BBC1’s most acclaimed new dramas of last year, Sherlock.

Moffat, a long-time Whovian, began his TV career with the Bafta-winning children’s show Press Gang and was best known for BBC2 sitcom Coupling be-fore taking over from Russell T Davies on the time-travelling show. He also co-scripted new Steven Spielberg film, The Adven-

tures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn.”

Smith wants the Ponds to “stick around...”Matt Smith in a recent interview with SFX has stated he would like Karen and Arthur to stick around, which appears to contradict a whole host of other statements, (we won’t go there...) He com-mented: “What’s interesting about the Doctor is he is always sort of an outsider in many ways. Because one day Amy Pond and Rory will go back and live on their own, and he will be left alone again. And some other poor sap will be picked up and whisked into it. I hope that day doesn’t come for a while, because I love working with Karen and Arthur, and Amy Pond is very close to my heart.”

In an interview with Onthered-carpet.com he commented on S6.2 being “very strong”: “The whole latter half of the series is really strong. There’s Let’s Kill Hitler, and then we have Dolls (in Night Terrors by Mark Gatiss). Toby Whithouse’s episode (The God Complex) is really great. It’s about a Minotaur and it’s like The Shining or something! It’s really strange. The finale is Steven Mof-fat going wild.” He later added on Lets Kill Hitler: “We go to Nazi Germany, just before the advent of the war, in a very mad way. I

am very proud of it. I think it’s my favourite so far.”

It’s Saturday 23rd April 2011, 5:45. I sit franticly waiting for my step brother to turn up from foot-ball, (in the earth’s foulest mood.) He arrives annoyed. Do I speak to him being we have to cross Derby in 15 minutes for the new series of Doctor Who? Yes. The car revs up and whirls out of the car park. We arrive two minutes before. My step-mum tells me to calm down. Yeah right. The new series of Doctor Who was starting and within the opening my younger step brother is already talking. I pull out my Captain Jack big gun, (not that one, not his “sex pistol,”) and shot him dead. Ok maybe not- but that astronaut and I need words R.E. a death...

If you haven’t already guessed this is one of my “reflection” articles where I reflect over the past seven weeks we experienced of Doctor Who Series Six/Otter/Two/32 (or whatever you call it) and take a look back at what we saw. I loved it. Most of it. Mostly... This article aims to reflect over Doctor Who S6 so far retelling the stories and my experiences during the episodes. So grab a Stetson, an elusive Rory TIA/DOTM polo, an Amy short skirt and River’s gun and get ready for S6 told by a mad man.1

Summarising the SeasonThe Doctor calls Amy, Rory and River to his death. Well the 1000 and something year old version. A younger ver-sion appears and they all convince him to attend an event in 1969.

With a successful battle with the Silence in the bag Amy revealed her pregnancy. But the TARDIS was confused. To top it all off- Amy could see “eye-patch lady.” After battling Pirates, meeting the Human TARDIS and battling the Flesh, Amy was revealed to be a Flesh avatar and was on Demons Run- an asteroid to kill the Doctor. The Doctor and Rory were not far behind and River haunted Rory with the prophecy of Demons Run. As the clerks on Demons Run took Amy’s child away- the battle began. When victory for the Doc-tor appeared strong hell broke loose with the greatest Doctor Who battle to date. And to top everything off- Amy and Rory’s child was Flesh. River shows up and it’s revealed: River Song= Melody Pond for the only water in the forest is the River...

America!Back to the 23rd of April: after the calamities of theearlier events described I sat to the sofa watching the opening serial: The Impossible Astronaut. The poignant memory card at the start was a really nice touch but nothing for Nicholas Court-ney!!!! PLEASE can we have some acknowledgement of another great Doctor Who legend! Sure he died in February

but count-less fans found it wrong. (Sorry, off topic.) The opening was unique in

itself. We were almost interrupt-ing an adventure that the Doctor was having but this soon switched to Amy and Rory in a normal

house! Something has happened between now and then and I have no idea what! It appears the season is about to become very Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey with companions here, there and in a storm cage. I’m guessing this and the fact they killed the Doctor in the FIRST BLOODY TEN MIN-UTES will return later this season. (In fact they will, we’ve seen it in the trailer.)

The variety of emotion in this episode was brilliant: from mo-ments of fun and exciting to moments that made you nearly s**t yourself to really dark sinis-ter moments such as when Amy convinces the Doctor to go to

101: Me not Steven Moffat or as I like to call him: “the Moffinater”

America 1969. The acting was also spot on. Canton was really well played and President Nixon was just amazing. I loved the little line about “recording” everything line and the little teasers into Nixon’s future...

This episode was an amazing sea-son opener and in fact one of the best. The two part concept really played out well with the open-ing story. In fact they both felt like two different episodes with a running theme. The whole “Three Months Later” scenario was really clever and made the reader feel fairly oblivious to what has hap-pened and why they are running. The Silence was also bloody freaky! The design and voice is very haunting and I can’t wait to see them again, (unless we forget them and end up waking up from the episode covered in Tally-marks.)

Overall: A cracking opening story which proves Moffat’s awesome-

ness!RATING: 9/10

Pirates and Fit ModelsIt was highly unlikely that episode three would even partially live up to the standards TIA/DOTM raised however this story was pretty good. The storyline felt very tra-ditional stand-alone Doctor Who and had a healthy dose of action, humour and strange episode “twists.”

Hugh Bonneville was a superb Captain Avery. His acting was at such a high standard he proved to be an amazing Pirate Captain. He’s good at playing historical parts isn’t he? His son however was a bit strange. I never under-stood why his son was there and not spotted hiding in gunpowder. That and the cheesy ending let the episode down. Our leads were also superb and the smaller supporting cast was also great. Then there was Lily Cole. Phwoar. I’m not going to be biased here

but she was the best in the epi-sode playing a fit sexy blue/green nurse who seduced not only Rory and company, (and even Amy for a moment,) but the audience as well. Ok- maybe her looks had a slight effect on how I found her performance but still- who wouldn’t want Amy to cut them and then go mental wanting to grow a beard to see this beauty!

The writing was at an amazing standard and the sets were also amazing. The thing that let it down was that snotty creature: not funny and looked really fake. We then of course discover the truth in the episode that Lily Cole is in fact a nurse caring for the sick. The ending was quite emo-tional- if Rory hadn’t died in the past. This recurring theme annoys this Rory Reveller but at least we saw Amy’s true devotion to Rory which has been almost debatable at times.

Overall: a fun episode which saw me end up watching this episode with a cushion and tissues over and over again. And the acting was also brilliant.RATING: 7/10Ok- maybe this was just a tiny bit bias...

Sexy, Sexy Rory and Sexy TARDIS, (and Sexy Puns...)Neil Gaiman: writer of the Sand-man and other such greats. And what’s this? He wrote a Doctor Who episode. No- he wrote one of the best Doctor Who episodes. It’s a real shame that it got cut down with the budget axe as he continuously teased about scenes in the Zero Room, the swim-ming pool, (which even with Rory swimming in it doesn’t save the budget costs,) and so much more.

But despite this- it was superb.Suranne Jones was BRILLIANT as Idris. This mental character was so successfully brought to the screen by both her psychopathic performance that at points made you laugh and towards the end made you cry and the amazing writing by Neil Gaiman. This is the first time I have properly cried at an episode: the ending was just beautiful. I seriously hope he brings out a novel of this episode as he is trying to do for it was superb! Smith was also on top form and Gillan and Darvill’s per-formance in the TARDIS corridors was amazing. Those scenes with house where very dark and scary, especially all those visions of Rory still waiting, (especially the DIE AMY bits.) Auntie and Uncle were also brilliant- freaky but brilliant.

The sets were beautiful. The Junk TARDIS was so amazing it’s hard to believe that a twelve year old designed it! The “junk” planet exterior and interior was also beautiful and we finally saw TARDIS CORRIDORS! Gaiman beings the fan he is finally gave and showed the fans what they wanted after years of waiting! As previously mentioned all the previously teased scenes were amazing and the alternatives also sounded great. The sexual innu-endos were... Interesting. And no we will not be writing a sexy fan fiction between the Doctor and the TARDIS...

Overall: brilliant.Rating: 10/10

Gangers and GooSigh. There’s always one episode isn’t there! Well in this case two epi-sodes that let the entire season down. Elements were interesting but still this episode was a real let down and a lot more could have been done with the whole clone concept. I saw the first part live but the second part was watched after “The Hangover Part Two,” so at least I saw some decent enter-tainment on that night. I thought it would be best for this section to do a “breakdown” of bullet points on what I loved and hated.

Things I Liked• Rory and Amy in the epi-sode: the chemistry is so amazing and I quite like the affection from Jenifer.• In “The Almost People,” the concept of the Doctor’s swap-ping shoes to show Amy’s affec-tion for the ganger Doctor more than the real. Just a bit physiolog-ical. I also like the Ganger Doc-

tor in the first episode swapping through regenerations with a few nice voice cameos.• The gangers looked amaz-ing. Brilliant stuff.• Rory didn’t die.• The cliff-hanger at the end of TAP: absolute genius. That was a lot better than “The Hangover Part Two,” (sort off.)Things I didn’t like• The way they used the clone concept. It was s**t! There could have been a whole variety of different twists and turns at with this concept that failed to appear. • The guest actors were average. Jenifer was brilliant but the rest were not brilliant.• The pace of the two epi-sodes. This could have been very easily a one parter as about 45 minutes could have been re-moved.• The feel for the episode was really slow and boring. At points I felt like falling asleep. • Everything that was intro-

duced could have been taken two steps further. The acid could have been a lot bigger and scarier; the clones could have been darker and the episode could have been, well... BETTER!• The c**py CGI of the dead flesh heap and the random flesh monster towards the end. How the hell did it originate anyway?

Overall: Matthew Graham: writer of “Fear Her”- an episode in the top worst episodes given an amazing concept yet written twenty times worse, but the cliff-hanger made up for part two.RATING: 4/10(and that’s only because of the cliffhanger. It very nearly got 2.5...)

Things that were awesome- Everything.- Rory- The Gay Agenda- The bloody plot twist!- Madame Kovarian- Matt Smith Angry- Rory- A Nurse Sontaran with boobsThings that weren’t awesome- The credits.

Overall: Perfect. Just perfect. RATING: ∞/10

Ok- honestly this was amazing and it’s hard to say why. Every-thing was amazing! Seriously: 10/10.

Rating the season as a whole this has been ten times better than anything RTD and just a bit bet-ter, (ok a lot,) than season five. I did not hate S5 but episodes like “The Beast Below” let the side

down. The split has worked very well and I hope this continues.

But now: Let’s go and kill Hitler!

Rory’s StoryRory Pond : the man who faces death and

laughs. We look at why Rory is awsome

presumably unknown to Rory also leaving her wedding ring...

Rory later re-joined the Doctor and Amy as the Doctor crashed his stag do by popping out of a stripper’s wedding cake ending up travelling to “vampire” rid-den Venice both shocked and partially amazed. Rory in Season Five appeared to believe that Amy thought the Doctor was better than him any day which sometimes he accepted. However after his first death Amy made her choice and chose Rory which

shows that despite her travels with her childhood fantasy- Rory will always come out on top. And then he died. Again. This time however it was worse. After jumping in front of the Doctor as Restac aimed to shoot him he began to die with the last words of “I’m Sorry.” He would just be a corpse on the ground if it wasn’t for the crack which swallowed him whole and made Amy for-get...

Two episodes later Rory reap-peared but this time as a Roman. This baffled the Doctor and Rory was also shocked to find his wife had forgotten who he is. However it was later revealed that Rory was an Auton and he ended up killing his wife. To make up for it:

he spent 2000 years guarding the Pandorica. That’s commitment. After the Big Bang 2 the Doc-tor returned on their wedding day and the team were all back together again.

Amy and Rory then spent numer-ous honeymoon ideas together such as a planet on a honeymoon with a moon and a space cruise which very nearly crashed to the surfaces of Sadricktown. Despite Rory’s very minor performance Rory was officially a companion as he was now spending his time

travelling with Amy and the Doctor. We even saw him help the Doctor fix the TARDIS which went slightly “wrong” after Amy’s Driver Instructor skirt and the Doctor’s glass

17

Since the new season has begun, we’ve seen only a woman take the centre stage as the compan-ion. With Mickey only joining for four episodes on the TARDIS in Season Two and Jack making vari-ous brief appearances beside the Doctor in S1 and S2 male com-panions never gained “a voice.” Then Mr Moffat came along and everything changed. We were introduced to Rory: the love of Amy’s life trying to live up to her “raggedy Doctor” standards. We look back at Rory’s journey so far with contributions from Rory Reveller the Pheas-ant Jumper as well as arguing Rory’s awesomeness...

A Nurse- Not a Doctor...: Rorry in a NutshellRory Pond was, at first, Mr. Williams and probably still is. He met Amelia Pond at a young age as they played the childhood game of “The Raggedy Doctor” with Rory being made to dress up as Amelia’s “imaginary friend.” When he materialised the day Prisoner Zero reappeared Rory began to be almost the lesser man on Amy’s mind. How-ever- his comedic timing makes, as Moffat has said, hard to not have one without the other. Amy left to travel with the Doctor,

“Rory: the love of Amy’s life try-ing to live up to her “raggedy

Doctor” standards”

Jenifer took a liking to Rory as he ended up becoming “The Middle Man” trying to care for Jenny de-spite she had mental ideas, a bit like a ter-rorist. However this was only the start of Rory’s troubles for after dropping off the survivors, Amy went into labour. Sorry: Ganger Amy. This made Rory go Roman again: super Rory went to the res-cue...

After being friggin awesome destroy-ing a Cyber Squad-ron and attempting to gain his daughter into the battle- Rory joined the battle stopping Madame Kovarian from steal-ing their baby, or so he thought, and was reunited with Amy as he tried to stay cool but broke down. But still: a crying Roman hold-ing a baby- defi-nitely cool. After some kissing and crying and the Doc-tor’s cot the battle commenced as the monks began to slaughter the army. Rory fought to protect Amy and his child despite Amy’s advice of letting them all die first. So Scottish. However their child was a ganger and Kovar-ian had the baby meaning the battle

was for nothing. After trying to get Nurse Sontaran to be strong he discovered with Amy that their

floor resulted in a rod being dropped creating a wibbly wobbly timey wimey situation in which he “pleasured” at the thought of two Amy’s.

Amy and Rory’s S5 relationship was strange. Amy was in sheer awe of the Doctor meaning Rory struggled to prove himself at times however he eventually suc-ceeded, as mentioned, in Amy’s Choice and Cold Blood proved Amy could never be without Rory...

The next time we saw our lov-able roman was back to Earth after he struggles to explain the Laurel and Hardy jokes to Amy. However an invite summoning them to Utah saw them reunite with a Stetson wearing Doctor at his death, (1000 years or so years old,) later meeting the number one person the Doctor trusts: himself. Three months living in the 1969 saw Rory combat the Silence with eyeliner, glasses and a suit. He began to worry as he listened to Amy’s sound chip be-lieving she was talking about the Doctor but after a strange choice of language, she chose “Stupid Face.” S6 has seen Amy and Rory drawn closer together which appears to get stronger by each episode. Episode Three saw Rory get slightly “pleasured” by Lilly Cole resulting in him drowning. As Amy tries to save his life there is a sheer admiration as she fears she will lose him again. Rory even says “I know you will never give up” which shows their love. They then both combat house head on creating a host of mind tricks to Amy making her see Rory Old, Angry and Dead. Again.

Next in the diabolical piece of poop that is The Rebel Flesh:

Arthur manages to develop this character so brilliantly he creates a character loved by so many. Whether it’s playing the Worried Rory as seen in Day of the Moon

or the Action Hero Rory as seen in A Good Man Goes to War. It just shows the huge array of talents

this man can perform and by the sounds of things it’s going to get even better... Finally: the writing. Despite Moffat likes to gun Rory down at any moment the writers

capture and write for Arthur so brilliantly. Bravo all!

Overall: Rory is an amazing companion who despite had to put up with Amy’s admiration of The Doctor towards the start develops into

a lovable husband and character that all adore. Bravo Mr Pond!

child will be safe from River Song who is Melody Pond...

The Awesomeness of Rory...Rory is a one of a kind guy: he’s smart, (to a certain extent,) funny and to Amy: a bloody good husband. This is all down to the creation of the two amazing talents: the writers/showrunner and Arthur. Arthur’s performance of Rory is amazing: he cap-tures this “blundering fool” yet strong man so perfectly it’s no wonder he’s admired by many.

Rory’s Top Five MomentsChosen by Brittany WildeDoctor: “Why do you have to be so… human?”Rory: “Because right now I’m not.”And bottom lips across the world tremble. What a great moment! Rory, in just one sentence, shows his dedication and love for his fiancé and suddenly men across the world don’t quite measure up. I love this moment, because like Pinocchio, Data from Star Trek TNG before him, he is the puppet (android, Auton) wanting to be a real boy. By doing this Rory shows us the true meaning of humanity.

“WHERE IS MY WIFE?”What an epic scene! Shocking the Cybermen into silence, this line is perfectly delivered by Arthur Darvill, and sets the tone for the rest of the episode. Casually walking onto the

everyone else is concentrating on the sky, even after he tried to explain to his boss and got sent home, even though there was nothing he could really do about it. What fabulous initiative. This was the moment I decided I was going to like Rory.

Jennifer: “I couldn’t get out of my harness. I thought I was going to die.”Rory: “Welcome to my world.”A bit of an odd choice I’d admit, considering how Jennifer manipu-lated Rory later on, but I loved this moment. Rory’s best qualities are showcased here, his compassion and understanding, everything that makes him who he is. Kindness and empathy are the qualities that every nurse should possess, and Rory has these in spades. Even though it didn’t work out in the end, and Rory was misled by Jennifer, I am so pleased this side of Rory was brought so far to the fore.

bridge of a Cybership and blowing up several others (without even looking at them), this was the moment Rory Williams became the new Chuck Norris to the fan community, and it is one that gives me chills every time I see it. No wonder the Cybermen told him just where Amy was.

“I waited 2000 years! I waited for you!”Possibly the defining moment of Rory Williams. He was always brave, and he always loved Amy, but here, he is steadfast and loyal, in a way that has never been seen in Doc-tor Who before, and that is saying something. For the first time, a com-panion is older that the Doctor, and outshines him in a finale. What great character development, whilst still staying true to Rory’s character. Well done Moffat!

Rory: “Sorry, it’s just, he can’t be there because he’s-“The Doctor, Rory: “In a hospital, in a coma.”Getting away from big grand moments now, here we have one young man from Leadworth, taking pictures of people who are meant to be in comas. Even when

Whovian Travels #1

Saturday 9th July 2011As Whovians will know Conven-tions have provided us the chance to go out and meet the stars. Never been to one? Get out! No don’t, (I need the readers!) Con-ventions can be one of the golden days of your life! And that’s what happened to me on the 9th July 2011...

It’s 6am in the morning. I wake up excited knowing that today will be the day I meet Karen Gillan and travel down to LFCC’11. After I packed my bag (containing my

would cos-

play. It’s hard to describe what it was like at 9:50 at Comic Con. Crowded doesn’t do it any justice. Busy? Still not sure. For the scale of the event the amount of people there practically filled Earls Court like a jug. But at least there was enough space to actually walk, sort off.

I went to get my virtual ticket for Karen Gillan’s autograph. It was 10:00am and they were handing out tickets around 925! That was me! 925! They were on 300 or

TIA/DOTM Rory costume, folder and other needed commodities,) I set off to the train to LONDON FILM AND COMIC CON 2011!

On arrival at Earls Court Two I was greated to the hugeness of the building and a whole host of people. I entered and changed into Rory. Unfortunately- I missed the chance to meet up with other Cos-players for photos, which I was deeply annoyed about, to meet Karen Gillan and my dad and brother showed up, not knowing I

found out I could have stood at the back of. Sylvester is the first Doctor I’d ever met and I was slightly disappointed. A guy who had just had something signed was still talking to him so I never got the chance to utter a word to the man! This hasn’t given me a “Sheldon” type evilness, (his hate for Will Wheaton,) with Sylvester as I could tell he was rushing. I should have gone later. I hope to meet him again someday when I can finally talk to him about why he is one of my top Doctors.

After this fairly negative encounter I met K9 operator Mat Irvine with the real K9 perched next to him. Mat was very interesting to talk to. He talked a lot about the differ-ent K9’s and what the where like etc. My K9 image also signed by John Leeson looks pretty splendid. Later in the day he had K9 on the floor roaming around the guests much like a R2-D2 robot.

Louise Jameson was next on the

list of people

to meet who was a

nice per-son to meet.

Before she finished signing,

being I knew I’d

something like that! But we’ll talk about that later. For now let’s take a look at what the day consisted of signings, walking, and Mrs Pond...

Doctors and DollsI decided the best way to spend my day would be to get the major-ity of my autographs early, (being Karen would not be until around 5:00,) and the browse. I started off with Sarah Sutton who was lovely. I spoke to her about the Big Finish audios in which she agreed really helped the classics continue. She also appeared to be in high knowledge of which episodes are which as she instantly recog-nised the title Kiss of Death. I only say this because half the time, as Paul Spragg (Big Fin-ish editor,) has said that the actors usually forget what they’ve just done... The one “error” for me was not getting “over the table” photos. I was on my own so it kind of made sense to leave it and not ask someone to hold my camera. I’m so quite.

I then made my way to Sylvester McCoy. I failed to get a ticket to

his free panel which I later

be hurried along, I got into a short conversation on her 4th Doctor Big Finish stories with tom. She highly praised Big Finish saying she gets to continue the character sometimes with Tom, sometimes with Jago and Litefoot, and then let it slip that there is to be more Gallifrey! I’ll hopefully be seeing Louise again at Big Finish Day 2, (that’s if I’m allowed to go- which I will be...)

The final guest my money expand-ed to meet was Richard Franklin

who was a really kind and sweet man. There was a little bit of waiting to meet him as he was talking to someone in front of me about photos and he gave him his phone number! I later learnt from Toby Co-burn’s vlog that he was giv-ing it out to people within reason! I should have mentioned this to get him to do an over the phone

interview... After the waiting Rich-ard said “sorry about the wait-ing, we’ll keep them, (the people behind me,) waiting!” After asking him how he was he then asked me to talk about me! I told him about exams etc and he was very advis-able and kind! We then spoke clas-sic Doctor Who and new Doctor Who and he praised the writing of his era and how brilliant it was. I really should have asked for a photo as he was one of the loveliest

Whovian Travelsmen I have ever met and I seri-ously hope to meet him again.

Costumes, Comics and Merchandise!Throughout the day I did a shed load of walking. From memory there was around six “passage-ways” surrounded both sides by stalls with a “feature” at the end, e.g. a costume, Mat Irvine and K9 etc. Stalls varied from comics to autographs to image sales to art to manga to anime to sci-fi. There was a fair amount of Doctor Who merchandise their on the day including some older figures and some of the newer merchandise. There was even a box of old Doc-tor Who Magazines going back to the very first year! I didn’t get any though- money again... I ended up buying the most recent Doctor Who Insider for I have never seen it before. I’m quite impressed, but that’s a whole other review...

Near to the stands was the Cos-play and Manga area where a whole array of costumes, im-ages and a changing booth stood. Cosplay Portrait were also there which looked quite interesting and is definitely something I would consider in the future. Surround-ing all of this was the photo shoot areas and the Harry Potter set. Going slightly of the “Doctor Who” theme these were really interesting and it was quite excit-ing to see broomsticks and other props up close!

Show-masters other events such as a twi-light event, (sigh,) and The Hub 7 which I am looking at attending. One let down of the day was that Showmasters announced there would be a Elisabeth Sladen and Nicholas Courtney tribute board and collection. However on Satur-day this was nowhere to be seen! I thought this was a bit of a letdown for two of the biggest Doctor Who stars and with the little spare money I had it would have gone straight into the collection fund. Nintendo also had a big black sec-tion showcasing games etc. I didn’t bother with this- it seemed a bit strange but I under-

A whole array of Doctor Who Cosplay-ers was also present at the event. From Doctors to Amy Ponds to River Songs to even a Weeping Angel to see the love for the show in this form was amazing. In fact- there were more Whovian Cosplayers than any other franchise! A cos-play meet up was planned for 5pm however due to later explained circumstances; my Rory Pond did not get to meet an Amy or a Doc-tor. Being this is only my second convention and my first in cosplay I learnt that you need to be more “asking” for photos and trying to make friends! This is an aim I will definitely be taking for Whoover-vile later this year.

The day also had a wide variety of panels and shows which varied from guest talks to Japanese Culture to a fairly cool and interest-ing stunt show. Thank-fully waiting for Karen was situated right next to a stage so I saw a small va- riety of

stunts and oth-er such things. There was a lot of adver-tise-ment for

to leave at 5:30pm or I would end up missing the train! I told this to the guy on the door and he let me in. I couldn’t thank him more! I got in and jokingly commented to the person who came in next to me at the photo table: “spoilt for choice.” I ended up taking the TIA/DOTM promotional image with her standing on the desert hill top. If I had another £25 I would have got the exclusive print signed and framed as it was A3 size. I might send it her to get signed... She wasn’t there. Slight panic being the train journey across London would be hell. She turned up with five minutes left- me being 20th in the

queue. Karen was like nothing I had never seen before! She was signing so fast- no personalisa-tion’s but so quickly signing! I met her- she asked how I was and vice versa, signed, I said thank you and thanks for being brilliant in Doctor Who and I left. Running

out of the hall I finally got to my dad and the day

stood why. Kind off.Come Along Pond! The afternoon was Gillan After-noon: Photoshoot, panel and au-tograph! The Photoshoot was my first glimpse of the beauty that is Mrs Pond. The TARDIS also stood proud and blue next to us. No comment on my Mr Pond outfit though (sad face.) I then made my way all the way down to the panel area where I’d wait until it began. The panel was a real fun Q&A session! Questions included things relating to the Doctor and Amy’s future relationship, can I have a hug, singing, the future, (in which she teased the word “motorbike”) and my question about having to act differently every time Rory dies. She laughed when I introduced the question with “we’ve seen Rory die countless times.” She jokingly com-mented: “Next time I think I’ll just sigh and turn away from the camera.” She then said it was a challenge and all that jazz. I was the last person to ask a question. Whilst waiting I met a Doctor and River, a German 4th Doctor who I sat next to who was a great guy to speak to. Unfortunately I didn’t get any pictures with them in my cos

To get Karen’s autograph I had to miss the cosplay meet up which I was pretty annoyed about but I got an autograph from Karen Gillan. Bit better but still... My dad also showed up and I’d hate him to meet me cosplayed, don’t really think he likes the concept... Therefore I also missed the Cos-play meet up at 5 which was some-thing I was highly looking forward to. The number was 850 and I had

TALLYMARKSSET DURING THE UNTELEVISED GAP BETWEEN ELEVENTH DOCTOR STORIES “THE IMPOSSIBLE

ASTRONAUT” AND “DAY OF THE MOON”

FictionApril 1969“AMY, CANTON COME ON!”

The Doctor bellowed his friends name as a struggling astronaut moved like a zombie towards them. Canton awoke from his unconsciousness and ran with the Doctor, faster than ever before as the astronaut was still com-ing after them. Amy however was stunned in shock. She’d shot a little girl but missed. But still- she nearly killed a child. The Doctor grabbed her.

“Amy come on.” He grabbed her and started running. As they entered the room filled with the “cool” space helmets and other NASA toys Rory and River emerged from the drain like shaft, also running.

“Doctor- they’re everywhere!” River shouted almost petrified.

“And yet again I had another Near Death Experience with a Silence.” Rory jokingly commented. They stared at him long and hard. ‘Bad timing,’ Rory thought. Canton snatched the gun from Amy’s hand.

“What the hell is going on?” He fearfully yet bravely asked.

“Look behind you.” River told him.

“There’s nothing behind me.” The breath of a Silent caught him. He turned to see the ghastly face of the puppeteers of humanity. A tall suit wearing alien with the “branded” science-fiction identity of the monster. He was scared. He turned around. “Nothing.”

“Canton trust me you just saw what we are fighting.” The Doctor

informed him. Dozens more ap-peared. “RUN NOW!” They ran to the side of a corridor near to the TARDIS.

“What’s the plan?” Amy asked- still shocked.

“Canton- you need to arrest me.” The Doctor instructed.

“What?” He asked confused.

“Arrest me- I’ll take the TARDIS to Area 51 and “invisibly park it” and then you need to build an alien prison or something around me so we can get to work.” Canton was still confused.

“What about us?” Rory asked.

“Run- find out what you can about these creatures. I’ll send a message out if I can to you all but for now: RUN!” Amy hugged the Doctor on her exit. “It’s ok.” He whispered.

“No it’s not.” She responded and ran.

“Go on then Canton: Arrest me!”

May 1969: UtahThe remote desert landscapes where coated in a dark luminous light of the moon. Rory looked up lying on the sandy ground. Five days ago him and his friends were separated from each other: the Doctor kidnapped and locked up in Area 51, Canton appearing to be siding with the Area, River and Amy: who knows. He missed Amy so much. “Where are you?” He muttered under his breath. “Where are you Amy?”“Oi! Stupid face!” A familiar Scot-tish tone rang. Rory leapt to his feet like a child at the sound of an ice cream truck.“Amy!” He shouted, running like

a child. On impact they wrapped tightly their arms around each other. River stood close by star-ing at the love birds. She smiled. “Where have you been?” Rory asked excited.“Running and hiding. We came here as it sounded like the best bet. And how did you get here?”“Bus. And finding me?”“Guess we both had similar ideas of where we’d all meet up. Where it all began I suppose.”River stepped in: “Amy, Rory we need to move. There’s a diner nearby- come on. The three walked into the sunset towards the caravan shaped all night diner.

“Isn’t it weird?” Rory asked sip-ping a strawberry milkshake in a tall glass.“What?” Amy asked.“Living in a different time period.”“Just a bit.” She wasn’t paying too much attention. She kept rubbing her stomach.“Is everything all right?” Rory peered over.“Fine.” She smiled back. River walked over rummaging through her bag. She sat down beside Rory and pulled out three eyeliner pens.“What’s this?” Amy asked.“Our weapon.” She said in her “I know it all” tone.“Eyeliner is our weapon?” Rory asked confused.“No!” She exclaimed. “We are try-ing to find out all we know about these creatures and at the moment that knowledge is tiny. Every time we see one we forget. So in the end we have no idea of how many there are. So every time we see a Silent or a group of Silence we draw tally marks on our skin.” She grabbed one of

the pens and demonstrat-ed. “See?” “So when we ‘forget’ we will know we’ve had an en-

counter?” Amy asked.“Correct.”“How did you come up with this?” Rory asked.“Spoilers.” She teased. Rory sighed. “We need to cover Amer-ica.” River continued. “Canton has promised us that our plan will take in two months.”“The mumbling and confusing talk of the Doctor?” Rory ques-tioned.“Yes that.”“So they’re building a prison around him?”“Apparently so: it’s difficult to get information out of Area 51 staff, even if you do use the lipstick...” She smiled. Amy also laughed. “As I said we need to split up across America. Amy how’s the Valley of the Gods?”“Sure.” She replied, still rubbing her stomach.“Rory: the Arizona region.”“Ok.” He responded. “And you?”“New York of course- I’ve been meaning to travel somewhere with style.” She smiled.“Lucky!”“It’s hard to keep in touch but if we meet back here in a month’s time then we should be able to keep contact in tack.”“Ok.” They stepped out the diner. Amy hugged and kissed Rory.“Are you ok?” He asked.“Never been better.” She replied.“I’ll see you soon.”“Yeah.”They all split apart from their group all travelling in different di-rections knowing that the next few months would never be easy...

Two weeks later.“Good afternoon, I’m Children’s Home inspector Rory Smith can I come inside?” Rory asked.“Of course,” the frail old man spoke. Rory stepped in disguised in a thin brown pinstriped suit with a perfectly straightened blue tie and white shirt. His hair was parted to one side and he wore a nerdy pair of glasses to disguise his face further. He also donned a terrible American accent which sounded like a cross between an old fashioned cowboy who just graduated from Cambridge. “This way.” The man instructed. They stepped into the office: a thin and long brown walled room with a desk that appeared to be highly collapsible. The man sat on a chair and guided Rory to his.“What’s the problem inspector?”“I’m just here to check the base-ments of these areas. We’ve been getting complaints and reports of events happening underground around this area.”“Basements? It’s probably just the children.”“Still I need to check.”The man stood: “this way.”

The man pointed him to the base-ment entrance. Rory pulled out a torch and walked down the cob-web infested area. He pointed the torch around and came to a rusted old door. He barged it open with his shoulder.“All finished?” The man asked as Rory re-emerged from the base-ment. “Brilliant thanks.”“Why are you covered in Tally-marks?”Rory paused. He hadn’t thought that one through. “Good day.” He headed fast to the door and left the orphanage- but he had com-pletely forgotten the events that

have happened in that basement... He did however remember two things: one- he had an encounter and two- his American accent was rubbish.

**Four Weeks Later...Amy was now running down an old high school corridor back-wards coated in Tallymarks. Her palm had the eyeliner typeface of the words “run!” She pulled off her wig and heels and headed for the door.“Mrs Pond,” the head mistress shouted, “What in the lord’s name is this and why are you covered in Tallymarks?”Too late: she had forgotten. She didn’t remember why she was running but what she did know was the Tallymarks. She’d had an encounter. She ran past the head mistress of Utah High School and ran out of the old wooden doors into the open.

**“You’re serious?” Canton asked.“Yes I am sweetie. So- Rory is in the Arizona region, Amy in Utah and as for I...”“Nevada?”“No- I’ll be in New York. The eyeliners I handed have a small tracker. Here: take this. It’s a tracker: you should be able to find them.”“Ok.”“I’ll see you soon.” She smiled a “cheeky” smile. Canton left the same diner. River stood up pulling up the jacket covering her arms: they were covered. Covered in the same Tallymarks. “They’re everywhere...” And that was only the beginning...

And then they started running...

Interesting corridor from The God Complex. Toby Whitehouse men-tioned in an interview: “In my epi-sode, the Doctor, Amy and Rory find themselves trapped in a hotel, which looks like a 1980s hotel, but the ge-ography and layout of it keeps shift-ing and changing, so they’ve lost the TARDIS,” he explained. “There’s also other people trapped in there, two humans and an alien, and also with them are nightmares. Each room contains a different nightmare. Some of these nightmares are the personal nightmares of the Doctor, Amy and Rory and the people in there, and other ones are nightmares of the people who have been in the maze before and died there.”

Rory and Amy from “Lets Kill Hitler” on a motorbike. This was shown during location filming ear-lier this year.

The Doctor back in his wedding tuxedo from Episode 8.

“My time is running out.” Shot ap-pears to be from Episode Twelve as the costume we see the Doctor in was spotted on filming.

The Doctor from “The God Com-plex” stating at a door. But which door?

Door 11: possibly the Doctor’s Nightmares as earlier mentioned by the writer Toby Whitehouse.

Winston Churchill returns. This is most likely from the season finale but we could be in for a cameo in Episode 8.

Gibbs from The God Complex looking as if he is either confront-ing his nightmares or is being attacked.

Daniel Mays character from “Night Terrors.” He appears to be sucked into a place- something to do with the dolls?

Madame Kovarian returns. Un-sure over which episode this is from but most likely “Lets Kill Hitler” or the finale.

“I’m going to die!”The Doctor knows so presumably Episode 12. Could this episode end with the Doctor dying? This would mean the Doctor has lived for a fur-ther 200 years. Could the rumoured Han Solo fate be true?

A strange eye. The eye seems weak so it could be that of an eyepatch wearing character...

The Doctor peeks through an eyehole. Could it be the eyehole of Room 11?

Aged Amy. My guess is this is from “The Girl Who Waited” which could be Amy’s “Turn Left” episode.”

“Thank you Doctor- I think you have just saved my life.”Hitler thanking the Doctor, most definitely from “Lets Kill Hitler.”How or What has the Doctor saved Hitler from?

The Doctor almost shocked by this response.

“Doctor are you going to kiss me?” The comic genius of James Corden in a new swing of the Gay Agenda. Get ready BBC for the complaints...

“Yes Craig- Yes I am.”Yep the Gay Agenda is back...

Amy in a forest like environment. Again really unsure but most likely “The Girl Who Waited.” Could this episode be a huge twist for the tales of Amy and the Doctor? Who knows? (Oh yeah- The Doctor Who Crew.)

A spaceship very similar to the Crash of Elysium set. It also is the same chair that the strange Doc-tor sat on during message from the “hidden messages...”

Stunning recreation of a Nazi Ger-many building. The Art Depart-ment rock!

A crashing TARDIS from “Lets Kill Hitler.” Why is it crashing? Is there a reason?

SDCC’11 Trailer Overview

River in AN EYEPATCH! Are we being led to believe that River is Madame Kovarian? Or is this a fu-turistic fashion? We’ll come onto that later... She is also in a pyra-mid as the promo image shows.

A variety of skulls. My guess is they are either from Episode 12 or Episode 13, which the pyra-mids are likely to feature...

A silent in some form of liquid. In terms of which episode I’m guess-ing 13 or it could be episode 12 but I am currently unsure.

A Cyberman in the darkness. Most likely episode twelve which is when they are definitely ap-pearing.

Weeping Angels. *Sigh*This appears to be a cameo in “The God Complex” as either Amy or the Doctor’s nightmares...

A really freaky doll from Mark Gattis’ horror epic “Night Terrors”

A ventriloquists dummy.Could this be from “The God Complex” as somebody’s nightmare?

A handbot from The Girl who Waited. My friend was the one who pointed out the slightly strange name...

A handbot opened up. Is that a laser or some sort of conversion ray?

Another eyepatch. Could this be Episode 8’s monster or an ac-complice of Madame Kovarian? Whatever it is- it looks a bit like the witches from “The Shake-speare Code...”

The Minotaur from “The God Complex.”

A door being smashed down.Again fairly unsure about what this is from however my guess is the finale or Lets Kill Hitler.

The Doctor, we think, smashing through a glass window from Episode 12.

The Doctor screaming- could the Cybermen be attacking?Again Episode 12

What is this? I can’t decide which this is from however people are guessing The Girl Who Waited...

Rory punching Hitler. As Charlie Sheen would say: Rory= winning.

Epic Amy in a hand bot outfit? Is this armour or has something happened to her? Again The Girl Who Waited, most likely.

Gibbs again this time screaming in “The God Complex.”

Rory running away? Is Amy pro-tecting him?

A soldier from... I’m not sure but it’s from the same episode as...

THE SILENCE!This was for a very short moment in the trailer and I am slightly con-fused over which episode again. Most likely the finale.

The Captain of the Elysium space-ship glowing. No it’s not David Tennant and he is not regenerat-ing.

Matt Smith tries to grab Daniel Mays as he falls into a glowing light. Again from Night Terrors.

A Cyberman! And he’s looking a bit different!

SDCC’11 Trailer Overview

The Cybermen going crazy. Again.

Now here’s an interesting mo-ment. Is this the Doctor discover-ing his death or checking he has stopped it? He looks worried, really worried for once. My guess is he will die at the end of Episode Twelve where this event will hap-pen.

The astronaut again in the same shots from The Impossible Astro-naut. Hopefully we are going to see who is inside very soon...Could it be Rory? Could it be Amy? Could it be River? Could it be the Doctor himself? Only time will tell...

By the looks of the shot this is a different shot from the episode. Going back to who is inside the Doctor KNOWS which suggests someone he fails to save is inside- either River, Amy or Rory. Anything could happen this series and Moffat has promised a huge twist at the end of the last episode...

“Haven’t we figured that one out?”No- no we haven’t Doctor. This suggests he has a plan to prevent his death somehow, some way. When will he find out? How will he save River? Who does she kill? (The greatest man he ever met- could it be Rory: her farther?) What will happen to Madame Kovarian? What is her plan? Will the Doctor die? Will Rory die again? How will Gillan’s performance as Amy break our hearts in “The Girl Who Waited?” Why is River wearing an eye-patch? What is the Silence’s true role in these events? Will anyone die? Too many questions to be answered very soon...

MASSIVE THANKS TO THE PIGEON MASTER ON GALLIFREY BASE FOR THE SCREENCAPS!

The Prediction GameMe and my friend Adam continuously speculate over what we think will happen next. Here are my personal predictions for what I believe will happen next...

• In terms of River Song I believe she doesn’t kill the Doctor. That’s way too obvious. I’ve got a feeling she kills Rory because if Rory is her farther then surely that’s the best man she ever knew? Her father? • Amy will definitely not be happy with the Doctor and their relationship will become very rocky. After failing to get save her baby in AGMGTW she is obviously not going to be as loving and caring to him as before.• Rory has a secret and it’s something to do with his relationship with death. I truly doubt that he’s a timelord or something like that. Despite I love him I can see him not being all he seems...• Madame Kovarian will die. • The Doctor knows all along about he sent the invites and that he died. How he is to prevent it I am unsure. Could Ganger Doctor still be alive or is the Doctor a ganger?• The Cybermen aren’t the main villains around the end of the season, a darker force is at work...• Rory will get angry at the Doctor for some reason.Or Rory will save the Doctor from something.• River IS NOT Madame Kovarian.• The eye patch symbolises some form of cult or group that River is “forced into.”• Omega won’t be back.• The Silence is still around and has been planning something for a long time. They were behind the Doctor’s death.• There will be another arc throughout this season which relates back to the past.• Melody will be safe but will not be in the TARDIS.Overall I can’t wait to see the new series whether in Ibiza through international television or by the internet. And just to remind you:

Action Figure: Silent (Closed Mouth)After months of delays and waits we finally have Wave 1 of the new Series Six figures ranging from Idris to variants of the Doctor to the amazing Silence. And trust me: it is amazing...

The articulation is amazing! Ball pointed shoulders allow a greater amount of flexibility when play-ing and/or positioning for display. There is no head articulation due to the height. Further articulation is in the usual figure area on the arms and legs and the silent can sit down. The size of the figure is amazing! The height is around one and a half of the height of a normal figure which allows the silent to dawn over people creating such a menacing effect. These are also amazing for photography. The detail is also superb. My Silent is grey, (there are two different colours in each wave assortment,) and the paint work applied is superb. The little “cracks” painted

on look superb and the face is really freaky. The small miniature eyes hidden in the circular holes look really menacing. The suit is also brilliant. The creases give a real “slimy” effect which makes the suit look very menacing. The shirt and tie are also well sculpted. One concern with my figure is the jacket appears not to fit properly. There’s a really thin piece of plastic holding it together which from afar looks ok but up-close partially ruins the effect. I think mine needs to go to weight watchers...The huge hands also are well designed and painted. The rubbery texture used makes them feel and look extremely well sculpted. The jacket also appears to be slightly thicker than the usual plastic used.

Overall: a stunning figure which makes you want to buy them over and over again...

RATING: 5/5

App: The Doctor Who SoundboardReview by Karen LanniganTwitter: @JBFan23

Having never written a review before, I was a bit unsure where or how to begin, but when @RTP-Productions tweeted and asked for people who like Doctor Who to review merchandise I thought what the hell.So here goes, my first review. I chose to do my first review on the Doctor Who Soundboard app for IPod Touch and IPhone, (keep it simple). To start with the app loads up with the current theme tune to Doctor who, good start since it was brought out after Matt Smith took over. The menu screen looks simple enough to use, it is split into 5 different sections titled ‘The Doc-tor, Amy Pond, Tardis, Rory Pond and Doctor who Theme Tunes.

Clicking on The Doctor one it opens up to reveal, current sayings from the current series of Doctor Who and some from series 5, these are all said by Matt Smith, some are short and sweet, others are full sentences that seem to be taken from the series when it aired.

At the bottom of the screen you then have another 4 sayings from the Doctor, including ‘Bow Ties are cool’; you also have a regenerate

button and a stop button if it goes on a bit too long for you.Selecting the back button I then chose the Amy Pond section. There is not as much to choose from here, which surprised me as she has had a lot of great lines, maybe this is something that could be improved on in an up-date, and you still have the stop button again on this page.

Selecting back again, I then went to Rory’s page, here there is a bit more to choose from, including some phrases from series 6, and again the stop button. Going back again, and onto the Tardis page. Here you have a selection of sounds that the Tardis makes, from a Hum 2008 version to the line “Hello – I’m sexy” from the Matt Smith era. There could maybe be a few more in here from years gone by, again maybe this is something that can be added in an update.

You also have 5 other sounds at the bottom of the page including the Lock/Unlock sound from the David Tennant era, which I quite like, (I am easily pleased), and again the stop button makes an appearance. The last option on the menu is the Doctor Who theme tunes, this goes from the first Doctors theme tune

right through to the eleventh Doc-tors theme tune, which I believe is a nice touch, to hear all the theme tunes.

Overall I think that this is a very nice app for 69p, it is easy to use and has a variety, if I were to give the app a rating I would give it 4 out of 5 as I believe there is still some work that could be done to it, as I said before, but very nice and it will be staying on my IPod touch.
