Benlowe DoorsWe’re experts in delivering a complete range of external doors and doorsets including singles and doubles standards and specials We’ve recently added GRP and steel faced doors to our range and can manufacture all doors to meet SBD criteria

We have a strong commitment to sustainability and caring for the environment in everything we do For us it’s a way of working every day – from the wood that we buy to the energy we consume and the waste we generate To reduce our impact as mush as possible we work closely with all our suppliers to identify opportunities to operate in greener ways

Buying wood in better waysOur timber is supplied through Redwood pines from Sweden and Finland These Nordic forests have been legislated to provide for more growth than felling This responsible forestry and its supply are approved by both Greenpeace and the Forests Forever Campaign

We believe in sourcing all our wood products from only well managed and sustainable forests All of our suppliers hold documented evidence of compliance along with a full chain of custody and we condemn illegal logging practice

As a group we’ve implemented a full chain of custody procedures in accordance with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC):

Sustainable practice from start to finishOur commitment to the environment goes beyond our wood purchasing policy Quality control under BS:EN:ISO : ensures our manufacturing process uses the best timber quality to gain maximum effectiveness from the timber supplied Rejected timber is recycled wherever possible to reduce waste

We use water based finishing paints as they release less harmful waste And our paint materials are also reclaimed to dramatically reduce waste and disposals

All timber products comply fully with BSEN They use the following materials and are manufactured in accordance with BS and BS

Vac Vac PreservativeAll softwood components are vac vac treated – double vacuum pressure impregnated to protect for years against rot and fungal decay This is fully compliant with NHBC Technical Standards and current building regulations

GlazingAll products are glazed using the latest security tapes and a drained and vented glazing system is incorporated as standard Internally glazed windows incorporate a solid beaded system

Finishing SystemWhether a solid paint finish or translucent stain all products are spray applied with a micro porous finishing system in accordance with BSEN moderate exposure All finishing systems have total minimum coating of microns dry / microns wet Opaque systems have a year warranty and translucent stains have an year warranty Please note we don’t recommend dark paints or stains due to their heat retaining properties which can result in resin exudation and/or timber movement Please contact our technical department for further information

The paint finish whether stain or paint needs to be washed down with soapy water at least every months Any localised damage to the paint work should be repaired immediately so as not to affect the warranty

Installation, Supply and FitAll products can be installed in ‘new build’ projects by our highly experienced installation teams nationwide To ensure quality we can only offer this service on projects where we either supply cavity closers or install into a timber frame structure We’re not able to offer this service on a window only replacement project

Please note that our prices for installation include only the installation of windows / doors in pre prepared openings which are retained when opened by fixing straps only Any additional supports will be the responsibility of the builder

We are licensed manufacturers of SBD windows and doors and have gained test certificates to show that we’ve met stringent requirements for mechanical and physical entry

All SBD windows and doors feature specialist ironmongery and are factory glazed as standardThe specification covers the whole development including footpaths landscaping street lighting doors and windows amongst others

Window Requirements• All ground floor windows must comply with BS ‘Enhanced Security’• First floor windows do not need to be BS compliant unless easily accessible from the ground floor• Laminated glass is not a general requirement (although occasionally it may be site specific)• Laminated glass is required to the outer pane of doors and glazed sidelights in the positions where safety glass would be required to comply with Building Regulation Part N The inner leaf would be toughened glass• Emergency egress windows to the first floor although not to BS standards will require laminated glass due to them having non locking fasteners

High performance spring balances ensure smooth and precise operation With the slimmest section in the Heritage range Chatsworth is ideal for use between brickwork or behind brick reveals to achieve a true period look

These timber sliding sash windows include lead weights cords and brass roller pulleys They also have traditional service pockets for maintenance of the cords and weights

Blenheim has the most traditional of constructions to meet the most demanding conservation requirements Factory glazing is recommended as it enables accurate calculation of the counter balance requirements for the sash And factory painting will ensure good all round protection and smooth operation

Sill and glazing bar options are available and Blenheim can also be supplied with sash horns

In today’s market there’s an ever growing need to develop more sustainable homes and buildings that meet increasingly stringent legislation and requirements A significant element of this is improving U values which is why we’ve recently introduced two new triple glazed windows to our range

Based upon the flush sash Glenfield range both our Tri therm and Enviro therm products are available fully factory finished with extensive warranties Both products can be manufactured to meet the tough security testing of BS with full Secured by Design certification along with full FSC chain of custody accreditation

The Cavity Closer System is an unplasticised polyvinyl chloride (PVC U) cavity closer and window sub frame used to form an opening in masonry cavity walls during construction Made from extruded profiles formed into a U shape template with welded or mechanically joined (using corner brackets) corners at the sill it has a temporary cross brace fixed at the head which is removed before window/door frames are installed

The main PVC U profile incorporates a box section to fit into the wall cavity Sub frames are manufactured to suit the brick aperture A mm clearance per side is allowed between the sub frame and window or door

Our Craftsman range includes three carefully chosen designs turned twisted or fluted and generously sized in spindles newel posts and rails in a choice of different timbers

Distinctive and elegant the range is hand finished by craftsmen

We have a large portfolio of spindle designs all superbly designed and machined to meet your needs Our range is diverse enough to accommodate conventional and alternative balustrades and we can manufacture in the timber of your choice

Chain of custody

We’re committed to maintaining and improving our environmental performance and are working hard to reduce the amount of uncertified material sourced for our hardwood ranges

If you ask for chain of custody both FSC and PEFC will restrict the type of material generally used for any staircase design The availability of certified material is increasing to include some Ash and Oak components but mainly Redwood or Whitewoods are used (MDF and ply for treads and risers)

Sander sealer For your hardwood stairs we can apply a simple first coat to provide limited protection before final decoration

Continuous handrail system We can design and manufacture balustrades without newels
