We are excited to offer a wide range of opportunities this winter for our students in grades Pre-K – 5. Please read through the following flyers to learn more about all of the enriching classes being offered at Carolina Day School. All registrations will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis, and you will receive an automatic confir-mation once you have paid for your class or classes. If a class is full, you do have the option to put your child on the waitlist. For any change in registration or cancellation, there is an $18 fee. The deadline for regis-tration is Thursday, January 11, at 12:00 noon. Classes begin the week of January 15. Please direct any questions about the classes being offered or about registration to Libby Roland at [email protected]. The teacher of the class will contact you with more information before class begins.

Kids Yoga at Carolina Day Grades: K-3
This class will help students build self-awareness and self- confidence through the practice of yoga poses. Yoga helps to build strength and flexibility in body and mind. Mats are
helpful but not required and will not be provided by the instructor.

Golf Squad at Carolina Day School is for both new and continuing students and provides weekly opportunities for your child to learn social skills required to enjoy golf, the clubs, and golf course (i.e. vocabulary, etiquette, rules, history, etc.) all under the instruction of a PGA Professional. Golf is a very challenging and fun sport that can lead to college scholarships. So start early and start now...boys and girls! Even if your child already plays, it is great to enjoy weekly, convenient lessons from the pro. All participating families receive weekly emails detailing what students will be doing and learning in class. Simply register, show up and build the foundation to enjoy golf for a lifetime.

Do you love words? Do you enjoy creating stories? This class focuses on basic skills every actor needs, starting with a love of language! We’ll create, rehearse, and perform a short play, while learning theater games and techniques that build concentration, confidence, and the ability to work as a team. Be ready to memorize your lines and some poems, too. You’ll need a positive attitude, willingness to be a little silly, and a brain that’s not afraid of exercise!

All the WORD’Sa Stage
Willie Repoley is a local theater producer, and co-founder of Asheville’s Immediate Theatre
Project. He directs, designs, and teaches, but is always glad to return to acting. Local
productions include lead roles in Shakespeare’s Pericles and A Midsummer Night’s Dream at NC Stage, and A Christmas Carol and Million Dollar
Quartet at Flat Rock Playhouse.

Our youngest wildcats will have the opportunity to learn about famous artists and create projects based on each. We will sing songs and read books about the artist then create projects using different mediums for each. Students will also learn about elements of shapes, texture, and
color. Artist will include Henri Matisse, Jackson Pollock, Georgia O'Keeffe, Michelangelo, Picasso, Leonardo DaVinci , and Anne Geddes. Students will learn about amazing artist and how they each very different ways to
express themselves. They will also practice different forms of art to inspire their own creativity.
Cooking and Baking Club With Ms. Monaghan
This is a great opportunity to learn cooking and baking basics such as how to read a recipe, use measuring cups, cut fruits and vegetables, mix ingredients and use the oven and stove.
We will make something fresh and tasty every week to eat and enjoy. Some foods we might make include mini pies,
spring rolls, pizza and chicken spinach alfredo. Learn some kitchen basics so you can be a creative chef at home too!
3rd-5th grade

meeting days are 1/30, 2/06, 2/13, 2/20, 2/27, 3/06, 3/13 (makeup day 3/20 if necessary)

Join the Minecraft Club at CDS and meet on Wednesday afternoons to play and celebrate all aspects of this thrilling and thought-provoking game. This club will be administered by Mr. Riddell, the STEM Coordinator at the Lower School. The club will focus on the positive aspects of the game and we will use multiplayer mode to play cooperatively, and to engage in healthy competition.
Important Note: Students must bring their own laptop computer or tablet with a full version of the game installed. Please speak to Mr Riddell ([email protected]) if it is difficult to arrange for a computer or tablet. He will help in any way possible. If you have any questions about the club or the server, please email Ian at [email protected]

DRAW I NG 1 0 1 with Ms. Monaghan
Come join Ms. Monaghan and learn how to draw tons of fun things. In this after school class, you will learn ways to draw animals, robots, monsters, flowers and much more. We will draw using step-by-step instructions so that everyone is a successful artist. You will create lots of unique, colorful and fun drawings in this class.
