Winter Driving Tips To Keep You Safe Winter officially arrived this week, which means wintery road conditions will be geing more severe. Are you properly prepared? Don’t wait until everything is blanketed in snow. Now is the time to winterize. A great deal can be done before we get deeper into the winter season. Preparing for the worst now can mean staying out of trouble and being safe when the weather turns ugly. Common sense and a lile advance planning can go a long way toward avoiding trouble. See the collection of winter driving tips on Page 6. q Sports Car Club of America, Inc. - Incorporated June 29, 1959 December 2014 Getting A Grip On Winter Car Prep In light of the impending winter nastiness, Charlie Demmy discusses the benefits of quality winter weather tires. Dedicated “snow” tires offer much greater traction in the white stuff than the all-season rubber that comes standard on most new vehicles. All-season tires are not adequate for anything deeper than light snow. The deeper grooves and softer tread compounds of winter tires offer vast traction improvements in winter weather driving conditions. Check out Charlie’s “Car Chaer” story on Page 4. q This is something we’d all like to avoid. Properly equipping a car for winter driving begins with the selection of good winter tires. — VInternet photo Hopefully this won’t happen to you. But what if it does? What if you’re stuck there for hours? Are you prepared to deal with it? — Internet photo
