It seems like only yesterday that I was installed as WLALA’sCommunications Officer and now I am writing my first President’sMessage. Time flies! I am truly honored to serve as the next President ofWLALA and look forward to the year as we mark the organization’s 100thanniversary. We will be kicking off our celebration of this incrediblemilestone with a Centennial Celebration on Saturday, September 21,2019 at the Intercontinental Hotel downtown. Yes, Saturday night! Andthere will be dancing too. Bring your spouse, significant other or friendsand pay tribute to 100 years of WLALA’s empowering women in the lawand in the community and the advancement of women’s rights.

2019 Women in Law InstituteCalling Attorney (7+ Years) Volunteers!
Calling all attorneys (7+ years) and law students in the LA area! The Young Lawyers Section haspartnered with the Center for Women in Law to present the
2019 Women in Law Institute.
Described by a partner at a top law firm as “the most practical tool I’ve encountered in my 20 years ofpracticing,” the Women in Law Institute is a full-day workshop for law students, LLMs, and judicialclerks. Participants can look forward to expert presentations on the essential skills for navigating a
successful career in law, including communicating with impact, communicating your value, andbuilding strategic relationships. Following each presentation, students will work in small groups led by
experienced attorneys to perfect these skills and receive individualized critiques in a supportiveenvironment. The day ends with a cocktail reception where participants can network and put their new
skills into practice.
Attorneys with 7+ years of practice from all backgrounds are encouraged to register as faculty tohelp lead the small groups. The minimum time commitment is 3 hours on the day of the event, with a
1 hour conference call to prepare for the event.
