Message from Our Joint Chief Executives
Dear Members,
Well what a busy year it has been for the charity. We have been in our ‘new’ office for nearly a year. We finally managed to recruit a new co-ordinator for the Gateway Project and got it up and running again. We were chosen as the Bracknell Forest Mayor’s Charity of the year and have had a very busy summer attending fun days and fun raising events. Sadly we had to cancel our planned 20th Anniversary Ball but instead had a 20th Anniversary party in July to coincide with our AGM which was enjoyed by more than 80 of our members.
December has been a busy fundraising month with 2 winter carnivals, 2 Bracknell tin shakes with the Mayor, Santa’s Sleigh in Crowthorne as well as very generous donations from supporters (listed on page 2). Fundraising will continue in the New Year with lots of opportunities for our members to get involved. As part of the Mayor’s Charity we will receive funds raised from the clothes banks in Bracknell. So when you are clearing out all your old or unwanted clothes before or after Christmas, you can donate them to one of the clothes banks which are located in car parks around the Bracknell Forest Borough where it states that the proceeds go to the Mayor’s Charity.
We are also looking for more brave volunteers to take part in a sponsored skydive for the charity or for runners and non-runners to sign up for The Lexicon Bracknell Half-Marathon which will take place on 12th May 2019. Registration is now open. Go to: https://www.everyoneactive.com/news/the-lexicon-bracknell-half-marathon/
We have vacancies for a Youth Club Co-ordinator at Woodley and a Smiles for Sib playworker in Bracknell. You can find details on page 5 – please share with your friends. We are all looking forward to a relaxing Christmas ready to face the exciting challenges of the New Year. Our office will close at 3pm on Thursday 20th December and will re-open on Monday 7th January 2019. We look forward to seeig you all again in January.
Don't forget that membership subscriptions are due on 1st January. It really helps us if you pay promptly.
We wish you all a very happy and restful Christmas.

FUNDRAISING & NEWS
THANK YOU
This time of year is always a busy time for fundraising and this year has been no
exception. We would like to thank our staff and volunteers for all their efforts and commitment on behalf of the charity. The total raised this quarter is over £2000
which includes:
Event Amount Raised
Wokingham Winter Carnival £396.90
Woodley Winter Extravaganza £269.30
Reading Lodge of Union (2 events) £1485.00
Sonning Golf Club Powerhouse Trophy participants £605.00
Recycling of milk bottle tops £36.36
A big thank you to all our staff, volunteers and members
who have helped us in some way to raise this fantastic sum of money.
THANK YOU
Bracknell Forest Mayor’s Charity of the Year 2018-19
The money raised by the Mayor during the year will go towards the running costs for the Gateway project.
If you would like to help raise funds for this great project you can donate your unwanted clothes to one of the clothes banks which are located in car parks around the Bracknell Forest Borough, where it states that the proceeds go to
the Mayor’s Charity. Proceeds from these will be donated to our charity.
We are also looking for brave volunteers to take part in a sponsored skydive for the charity or for runners and non-runners to sign up for The Lexicon
Bracknell Half-Marathon which will take place on 12th May 2019. Registration is now open. Go to: https://www.everyoneactive.com/news/the-lexicon-
bracknell-half-marathon/
Or you could think of your own sponsored challenge! If you are interested, or have an idea for a sponsored event, please let us know at the office and we
can work with you to make this happen.
Bottle Tops Thank you to everyone who collected milk bottle tops for us. With your help we collected over 500kg, but were surprised when we only received a cheque for £36.36 for all our efforts. We are no longer the nominated charity for this and so will no longer be collecting the tops so please do find another use for them.
