• Integrated design project (IDP) is also known as capstone project

• IDP is a final year engineering design project.• Can be introduced in 3rd or final year as 1- or

2-semester project• Required by Engineering

Accreditation Council (EAC) for engineering program.

• Based on the given project theme, your group is required to: – Prepare interview script with a minimum of 10

interview questions for in-depth study of user’s problems and needs.

– Identify and interview a minimum of 10 real users. Encouraged to use a voice recorder / smartphone.

– Perform on-site observation (People, Object, Environment, Message, Service). Encouraged to use a camera / camcorder / smartphone.

Conclusion

• Capstone project is not just for the sack of EAC.• From my observation, the students involved in

capstone project are more confident in doing FYP. • The students learnt about important of team

working and design thinking in solving a project with limited resources (time frame vs. budget vs. scope).
