The idea behind XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language) is simple. Instead of displaying a financial statement or a business report as a block of text in print on paper or as an Internet page, the information is structured with tags (like bar-codes) which identify and describe each individual item of data. These data elements are associated and linked into an accepted structure for the report. The data now becomes directly accessible by automated computer processes.

Better Business Intelligence XBRL tags provide self-documentation, consistency,

clear meaning to the data and instructions for downstream automated processes. I f a company or an industry requires added specialized information structures to improve clarity, XBRL is easily extended with appropriate disclosure.

XBRL provides a foundation to help accelerate the full

realization of business advantages promised by concepts like Business Intelligence, Electronic Data Interchange and Integrated Enterprise Information.
