24 September 2018
Together we inspire Together we learn Together we achieve
At Yeoval Central School we inspire all to be responsible, respectful learners. Working together to achieve and grow.
You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself In any direction your choose.
You’re on your own, And you know what you know.
And you are the one
Who’ll decide where to go!

A message from the Principal
At Yeoval Central School we inspire all to be responsible, respectful learners. Working together to achieve and grow.
This week we farewell Mrs Belinda Lorimer who has worked at YCS as a School Learning Support Officer since 2012. I know she will be missed by staff and the students she cares so much about. Mrs Lorimer has worked one-on-one with students from Kindy to Year 12. She has conducted our Corrective Reading Program which has had much success over the last five years. We wish Mrs Lorimer and her family all the best. Mrs Megan Parker will be as our new SLSO.
This week we farewell the Class of 2018! Blake, Ben, Josie, Jaide, Mackenzie, Abigail and Skye begin their HSC examinations next term. We wish them all the best during this time and in the future – and thank them for their contribution to YCS.
Jessica McClure represented YCS at the PSSA Athletics Carnival. She proudly chose to forego the movie day to honour her prior commitment. I congratulate Jess on this and her efforts on the day.
What a fantastic night we all had at the disco! We are so fortunate that our friends at Caringbah North Public School donated money to us to enjoy a DJ, pizza and popper and transport home. Thankyou you to Langley’s Bus Company Dubbo, who kindly donated the use of their buses. I hope the parents enjoyed their BBQ dinner at the Royal Hotel too. I thank Mark and Marissa for supporting us, Trevor, Marg and Murray for driving the buses and Mrs Helen Tremain for her organisation. Our staff stayed back to also supervise, I thank Mr Andrew Jones, Ms Kellie Stone, Mrs Helen Tremain, Ms Amanda Crain, Mrs Elaine Bates, Mr James Sanders, Mrs Helen Johnson and Mrs Alana Kerin.
The Western Access Program have also be the recipients of a kind donation of $3000 from Cecil Hills High School! This generous gift will subsidise events like our transition days, WAP camp and study days for our Stage 6 students. The Year 12 class decided that their 2018 fundraising efforts that were to go towards their formal and graduation would be better spent on our students that have been affected by the drought. We are proud to be part of the Department of Education where our city cousins are thinking of us all. We thank Paul Hickey, Year 12 Adviser from CHHS who has coordinated the donation.
Thank you to Mr Mitch McAlister from PHCS who organised a WAP Primary Industries study day at Tottenham last week. Thanks also to Mr James Sanders who transported and supervised.
Tomorrow we celebrate NAIDOC Day with Uncle Ralph. Students will be involved in learning an Aboriginal dance and contributing to an artwork.
This week we hold our annual Sports Assembly on Wednesday at 2pm, I look forward to seeing you all there!
We are very excited to ‘Share our Space’ these holidays. A Department of Education initiative to invite members of the community to share our public resource. The school grounds will be open from Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 5.00pm. This will commence on the 1st October through to the 12th October and a security guard employed to ensure buildings are kept secure. If you have any questions now or in the holidays, please call the school.
I hope you all have a restful break and I look forward to seeing you all again in Term 4. All staff and students return on Monday 15 October. Remember it is ‘No hat, no play’ during Terms 1 and 4. We encourage all students to be sun safe and promote this through our expectations. If parents/caregivers are unable to provide the school bucket hat please call me ASAP. They can be purchased from LOWES Dubbo and online for $16.95.

Year 11 Primary Industries On Monday 17 September, Brian Peacock took part in the Primary Industries Assessment Day for Cleaning Machinery and Feed and Water Livestock. Mr McAlister from Peak Hill provided an engaging and educational series of activities for students to demonstrate their skills and knowledge. Tottenham Central School's GA did a great job of setting up the machinery and this enabled students to participate in real world maintenance tasks.
We would like to extend our thanks to Tottenham for hosting the Primary Industries students as well as putting on the BBQ which was enjoyed by all in attendance.
