Verbs• art = are, as in “Why art thou sleeping

in class?”

• dost = do, as in “Thou dost thyself harm by sleeping”

- does, as in “Mary dost not like liver”

• hath = has, as in “Harold hath a tooth ache”

Contractions• ‘tis = it is, as in “’Tis a pity thou

art only two feet tall.”• e’er = ever, as in “Don’t e’er
