Why was he worried only about his head – what about the rest of his body? Yaakov realized that he was entering a new world with new challenges. He knew that in Charan he would deal with starkly different reality than the security and tranquility of his fathers home. For this reason he carefully surrounded his head with stones to protect his "head"—his spiritual focus and awareness—from falling prey to the distractions and challenges of his new life. He knew if his head was in the right place then the rest of the body would be protected as well. This provides us with a valuable lesson. Rabbi’s Message

On his way to Charan, Yaakov sleeps on the mountain and protects his head by placing stones around his head. Why was he worried only about his head – what about the rest of his body? Yaakov realized that he was entering a new world with new challenges. He knew that in Charan he would deal with starkly different reality than the security and tranquility of his father’s home. For this reason he carefully surrounded his head with stones to protect his "head"—his spiritual focus and awareness—from falling prey to the distractions and challenges of his new life. He knew if his head was in the right place then the rest of the body would be protected as well. This provides us with a valuable lesson. If we have our priorities in order we can thrive anywhere in the world.

Our Jewish community is a caring one. So why are many in our community eating alone on Shabbos? We decided to do something about it.

We are making a list of all who would like to occasionally provide Shabbos hospitality for a Friday night or a Saturday noon meal. To sign up as a host, you can use this special email [email protected], or use the sign-up sheet in the lobby.

We are also making a list of those who would like to be a guest of a Host. Please phone Ila or Sholom at 954-427-5187. Please provide your name, address, phone and/or email.

This is how it will work: Each Shabbos Host will receive a list of those who would like to provide Shabbos hospitality. It will be up to the Host to make contact with one or more guests whenever they wish.
