Structural System: Frame Structures Concept: Branching System
This structure began with two ideas. The first was that of a branching
system, where a dragonfly was used as inspiration. The second idea, a crate structure, came from a fiber
cell leaf. As both of these ideas were developed and integrated with one
another, it resulted in a continuation of the branching system. Further
development led to the present amalgamated structure.

The pipe aperture helped us collect sunlight directly. Most of this part we used for certain program area.

It create a differenciation from both functional and physical. This kind of aperture provide more open light area.
THREE FORMS & FUNCTIONS
At the first level, this kind of aperture becomes support structure. It share the pressure from exterior wall system.
This kind of aperture is more functional. It provide shaded space without going into the building, and people can also see what happens inside.
This is typical traditional aperture. The pipe shape can lead the light directly, both sides.
Panelize Wall System
The exterior wall has a steel frame structure that support the precast concrete panelize.

The warehouse located at the connection area between east and west side of LA. To create connection with transportation, the warehouse splits free way, and bring it into building’s structure.
The structure explodes out from dynamic surface and embraces free way. It provides generated changing ex-perience while people driving through.

Original ShapeA simple geometry.
ConstraintLine constriction form a shape with shallow creases.
Choose LanguageMaking a shape isn’t the final purpose. Looking through the model, I’m interest-ed in the pinched wrinkle shape, which could create interesting exterior surface. In addtion, if we play with larger scales, those shape could also be defined by program and circulation.
Twist and PinchTwisting made creases become tigher and deeper. And through the process of pinch, created dramatic wrinkles.

Lines gently follow the geometry, provide force to make creases deeper and tighter.
Lines intersect with each other, provide unregular force to change the whole shape, after get those wrinkles..
Lines liberated from the geometry. No longer provide force to shape, but they maintain the shape even though they were pulled out.

Secondary structure To make more connection between structure and exterior surface, a beam frame structure, which is used to support pinched exterior surface, supported by main and secondary structure

Structure split Free WayThere is the moment where the building splits the bridge.To connect with the higher freeway, structure split exterior surface and goes out. It provide different experi-ence for people driving through two different directions.
Relationship between Interior and ExteriorThose large pieces of glass explore interior and they follow the geometry of exterior surface, and also isolate two floors with different height.
Supporting StructureThose structure system used to form the shape and load weight are made by steel beam and concrete.
