Page 1: Zach Panos Recommendation Letter 7.22.15

July 22, 2015 To Whom It May Concern: It is a pleasure and privilege to recommend Zachary Panos to your organization as a young leader with well-developed talents and skills who would be an outstanding credit to a work environment needing energy and dynamism in a business setting. My exposure to Zach dates to 2013 when I had the occasion to meet him for the first time in his role as Rush Chair for our fraternity at Penn State. I was immediately struck by his ambitious and gregarious personality while also seeing him project confidence and authenticity in being real and straightforward during the Rush process – and doing so as a sophomore. His well thought-out strategy for recruitment yielded a net new membership group of 19 brothers in the fall semester, all of whom were highly motivated to improve the fraternity and carve a new possibility and energy towards a stronger brotherhood. Zach did this while striving to improve himself and his brothers with a commitment to service and character development. His efforts also materially contributed to a significant improvement in our alumni corporation’s finances through Zach’s diligence in containing expenses while helping to improve the overall funding base. Zach’s ability to understand his environment and how to craft communication techniques and execute a master plan were put to a hefty test the following school year. When some poor decision making by other chapter leaders presented a difficult leadership challenge and series of consequential obstacles to overcome in the fall of 2014, Zach’s straightforward approach to the challenges and clear communication helped play a major role in executing a master plan that returned the chapter to restored credibility. Among his key actions was working with the local law enforcement community to arrange fire and safety education seminars for the brotherhood as well as the rest of the Greek Community at Penn State. These efforts helped drive awareness and new engagement levels in the Interfraternity Council’s relationship with law enforcement in State College. In all, Zach has used his engaging personality as a tool to foster change and has demonstrated consistently that he has the right leadership qualities to execute ambitious plans. He has also learned the value of recognizing key stakeholders as partners to accomplish his plans and goals. He does it all with an inclusive approach to building teams and buy-in from all participants and his results have been impressive. Zach has clearly demonstrated great academic performance in his studies, and outstanding application of what he has learned to leave a mark with a record he can be proud of achieving. In my mind, it has been a joy to see Zach grow into a confident and successful leader, and he is well suited to take on great challenges and deliver strong results in any endeavor he engages. He stands out as a shining example of the positive experiences and leadership development that are possible within the Greek Community. Very truly yours, Kevin McCarroll, MBA Treasurer Beta Gamma Company of Phi Kappa Theta
