2014 Goodwill Mission in Asia
The OCAC’s 2014 Chinese New Year Goodwill Mission performance tour was
led by three stages by OCAC Vice Minister Roy Yuan-Rong Leu, Chief
Secretary Chang Liang-min, and Director Vicky Chuang, respectively, from
February 6 to March 11. The goodwill mission, consisting of VOX Vocal Band,
Usay Wu Si Ai, David Wu, and other members, performed with distinction in
Tokyo, Japan, Klang, Muar, Kuching and Miri in Malaysia, Bandar Seri
Begawan in Brunei, Ho Chi Minh City and Haiphong in Vietnam, Phnom Penh
in Cambodia, Bangkok in Thailand, Kota Medan, Surabaya, Singkawang and
Jakarta in Indonesia, and Cebu City, Iloilo City and Manila in the Philippines.
The tour comprised 17 performances in 17 cities from eight countries.
The tour featured the theme ‘The Sound of Music in the Warmth of Spring -
May Your Dreams Come True.’ With the heavenly a cappella singing of Vox
Vocal Band and the beautiful voice of Usay accompanied by David Wu on
guitar, the tour well interpreted many classic Chinese, Taiwanese, Hakka,
Cantonese, and English songs from different eras, providing the audience with
astonishing sensation. In total, the tour had attracted 18,170 spectators, sending
a warm greeting from Taiwan to the overseas Chinese people. The tour also
successfully displayed Taiwan’s unique culture to the mainstream society in the
countries visited, leaving a favorable impression of Taiwan.
