† To undertake work on Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas (EEHA) that meets the requirements of AS/NZS 60079.14 and AS/NZS 60079.17.
† To enhance students’ PLC and electrical instrumentation skills and provide exposure to process instrumentation and control used in the industry.
† To provide a pathway for electricians to Clean Energy Council Grid Connected PV Design and Installation Accreditation to design, install, configure, test and commission grid connected power supply systems.
OBJECTIVES

SCOPE
Students who hold an unrestricted electrical license issued by a state or Territory and are successfully competent in both theoretical and practical training, completing all units of competency in the training package (refer http://training.gov.au/Training/Details/UEE40611), will receive the full qualification
This qualification provides competencies to: a) Select, install, test, maintain and inspect electrical equipment in hazardous
areas (EEHA) in a gas and dust atmospheres; orb) Select, install, commission, fault find and maintain electrical and
instrumentation equipment in buildings, premises, instrumentation systemsand core instrumentation equipment; or
c) Select, design and install grid-connected PV systems, develop and assessstrategies for energy loads and energy efficiency in domestic, commercial andindustrial properties and enterprises.
It includes ERAC requirements for an ‘Electrician’s licence’

Delivered at one of PMV’s national training centres in Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide or at a client’s facility.
TRAININGMETHOD
COURSE STRUCTURE
Blended delivery of 60% theory and 40% practical training with equipment that you are likely to see in a typical industrial environment with
a) Electrical equipment in hazardous area (EEHA); orb) HART rated instrumentation and final control elements with PLC control
system, orc) Grid-connected PV systems and domestic, commercial and industrial energy
loads
The course includes in-class progressive assessment; short answer tests on a) Hazardous area fundamentals; equipment marking; equipment
certification; and, device interpretation orb) Hands on PLC programming, testing and fault finding, solving problems in
pressure, density, level, flow and temperature instruments, wiring,calibration and loop testing, or
c) Shading Analysis, PV install for different roof types, rails, modules, DCIsolator, pre-commissioning, commissioning and fault-finding. Loadanalysis, load efficiencies and strategies to increase the energy efficiencyusing different renewable resources.

This post-trade professional development gap training is aimed at and encourages candidates who would like to gain knowledge and “hands-on” skills in
a) Electrical equipment in hazardous area (EEHA) work in the installation,maintenance, testing and detailed inspection, or
b) PLC and process instrumentation using interface with HART fieldinstrumentation, or
c) Grid-connected PV systems design and install, strategies for energy efficiencyand assessing energy loads and energy efficiency
Pre-Requisites A current electrical license (any Australian state or territory) is required. Electrical engineers who meet the pre-requisites for electrical equipment in hazardous areas, PLC and Instrumentation units will be issued Statement of Attainment for the units they have successfully completed.

TRAININGCONTENT
You will undergo face to face to one practical training with industry experienced, qualified Electrical Professional Trainers with hands on experience in installation, inspection and remediation work in Hazardous areas and instrumentation with HART compliant field instruments and Allen Bradley PLC Control System:
EEHA Pathway The hand on training on the purpose-built hazardous areas skids include the following:
1. Principles of hazardous area classification2. Explosion-protection techniques;3. Standards and Codes of practice4. Reading and understanding hazardous area classification drawing5. Name plate reading exercise for Ex d, Ex e, Ex n, Ex i, Ex m and Ex t
techniques6. Reading Certificate of Conformity7. Specific installation requirements for different types of Ex techniques8. Equipment selection, installation, breakdowns and maintenance
requirements;9. Permit to work and safe isolations and testing;10. Making up of Ex d Barrier Gland11. Detailed inspection on Ex e/Ex d box and Ex i loop and list the required
remedial actions.
Instrumentation and Control Pathway The hand on training on the purpose-built instrumentation and control skid include the following:
1. Pressure (suppression/elevation of transmitter)2. Level Radar / Ultrasonic configuration3. Conductivity level configuration4. Flow – configuration and control including Magnetic flow meter operations5. Calibration of Temperature Transmitter with RTD and Thermocouple6. Program digital and analog PLC. Download, test and fault find PLC program
on PLC hardware7. Configuration of smart devices via HART Modem and Hand-Held
Configurator8. Reading P&ID and 2 and 4 Wire loop drawings. Verify the drawings against
as installed equipment
Renewable Energy Pathway1. Shading Analysis (Path Finder and Sun path diagram)2. PV Systems for different types3. Rails, modules, DC Isolator4. Pre-commissioning tests, Commissioning and Fault-finding5. Load analysis, loses and efficiencies6. Strategies to increase use of energy efficient methods in domestic,
