SKILLS You NEED

• Take a look at the hand out and figure out if youcan work out what CALP means – it is on yoursheet!

• Quickly scan the key words in the skills list andsee which of them you know.

• Which of them are you a little confused by?Highlight them or underline them to check with your teacher later.

• By the end of Year 11, you will be a pro at all ofthese amazing skills – they are not just for GCSE,they are for LIFE! Cool…? So pay attention!

• How you feel about starting your GCSEs at WIS. Are you excited,worried, afraid, tense, – why?

• What you think about what EAL can do for you to help youwith GCSEs – anything in particular you would like help with?

• A special fact about yourself that you would like to share with your EAL teacher – it can be personal or about school!

• Finally – a list of all your subjects this year and the teachers whoare teaching you – you can do this from your timetable.• Eg: Maths – Ms. Livermore

– English – Ms. Maclean– E2L – Ms. Onsiong.– Science – Mr. Martin /Ms. Lee etc. etc.You may choose to do this task in the lesson with your teachers –
