The story of Christmas We celebrate Christmas in order to
comemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. We celebrate Christmas on 25 th December
because people used to have a celebration about agriculture and sun
Now we celebrate Christmas with our family and with a lot of food.
The story of HanokkaHanokka is being celebrated in order to
commemorate the “Oil can miracle”.When the Jewish people conquered Jeruselem
again they they found a small canof oil, but this oil lasted for 8 days! (which was enough to produce new oil).
Christmas EveOn Christmas Eve all the people of the family
stay togetherChildren wake up very excited, because they
look forward to receiving Santa’s giftsChristmas Eve’s morning is the last opportunity
people have to buy presents.During the afternoon people play cards and
bingo.In the evening we eat typical Christmas food.In the evening people go to church and children
wait for Santa Claus.
Christmas morningChristmas morning is a very exciting event!
We get up very early to see our presents! We spend the day with all the family and
enjoy ourselves all together.
Hanokka foodThe traditional food in hanokka are fried
donats (with no hole) called Soofgania. They have straberry jam filling.
Another traditional food is Levivot, pancakes made of potatoes and fried in oil.
Hanokka and familyEvery evening we meet our family and
friends!Celebrations are eight days long.Every evening we light the candles and eat
together with our family and friends!
