Change from the original as much as possible!
· Simplify the vocabulary
· Turn a complex sentence into a few simple sentences (vice-versa)

Citing Sources
Remember to put your Research into YOUR own words, but still give credit to the authors you cite!
How to cite within your paper
· Once you have stated an idea that was NOT originally YOURS, you must give credit to the original author.· Includes Quotes, Paraphrases, or
Summaries.
· You do this by simply adding the author’s name and the page number of the information to the end of that sentence in parentheses (Smith 145).
Citing after a Quote
· You absolutely MUST have a citation immediately following a Quote.
· The British have been “seizing our music, inserting ingredients of their own, and sending it back to us” for years (Browne 32).
Citing after a Paraphrase or Summary
· Putting information into YOUR words does not make it YOUR idea. You still must credit to the originator.
