Award-winning author and historian Douglas
Brinkley gives his first public talk on literary natu-ralist and Hudson Valley native John Burroughs.Burroughs' nature essays influenced the emergingconservation movement of the early 20th Century— as did his friendships with national leaders.
Dr. Brinkley is a professor of history at Rice University, a CBSNews commentator, and a contributing editor at Vanity Fair mag-azine. He is the author of the acclaimed Wilderness Warrior:Theodore Roosevelt and the Crusade for America and is currently
writing Franklin D. Roosevelt: the Renewal of America.
