Page 1: Music video analysis

I have researched a few music videos to the Pink and Nate song and it is conventional that the video consists of various close shots of the main singers of the song.

This shot is effective in this music video as it shows 2 different aspects of performance in the song as there is the two singers performing and another playing instruments. This is quite effective and is edited with a split screen.

I like this shot as it is a shallow focus on the setting and has a sharp focus on the main performer. This is quite an effective way to start of a music video, as it also gives the audience an insight to the locations of the video.

This is also another way to start of a music video as this one shows a mid/long shot of the female artist. She is complimented with the mise en scene of this music video which is a good way to introduce the music video, as it could potentially attract the audience.

The editing of this video consists with a lot of fade ins. This is effective as it compliments the feel of the actual song which is being performed. It is also a shot reverse shot of the male and female singer singing, their lines in the video, which makes it clear on who is singing which lyrics.

This is another effective way to film the two performers when they are singing the song together at the same time. This shot emphasises the mise en scene which is important for a good music video.

This is the original video to the pink and nate song and it starts off with a tilt up of the main female artist. I like this shot as it is also a silhouette shot of the performer. This is quite an effective shot to use when making my own music video.
