LastmonthavotewastakenonclubnightabouthostingtheIPMSNationalsScaleModelShowhereinAucklandandtheoverwhelmingresponsewas“agoforlaunch”.
YouraffirmativevoteforNationalsisalsoapledgetohelpsopleasebesurethatanytimeyouareaskedtohelptogiveitago.Mostofthetaskswillbeprettystraightforwardandwhentheshowrollsarounditwillbesuperrewardingtoknowthateachofusplayedasmallpart.

DuringFebruary2013iswhentheinformationpackageswillneedtobesentouttothevariousshopsandothermodelingclubs.
TheIPMSAucklandbranchwillbehavingadisplayofmodelsandputon
somemodelingdemonstrations.AtthenextclubnightIneedtogetanideaofsomethemesthatwecanputondisplay&whowouldcontributemodelstothattheme.

ItisthattimeofyearagainwhentheWaikatoScaleModellersClubgathertogethertocommemoratethosewhohavefalleninbattleinpastandpresentconflictsaroundtheworld.ThevenueisatLakeKarapirodomain,onthe10thand11thofSeptember2012.TheWaikatoScaleModellersClubhasbeengivensoleresponsibilityforthemodeldisplaysandcompetitionsandalsopromisestobeourbiggestyetwithalargearrayofdisplaymodels,competitionswithmedalsandprizestobeawardedtothewinnerstheisalsothePeople’sChoicevotingtokeepthepublicentertained.Therewillalsobelivemodelbuildinggoingonthroughouttheweekend.
Thisyear’seventisduetobethelargestyetwithlivere-enactments,militarydisplays(includingupwardsof80militaryvehiclesandarmour),eventheAir-showissettobethelargestyetandwillinvolveofallthingsadivebombingdisplayontoasubmarine!

Inthedoublegaragewhichisattachedtothehouseyoucanseemystash,ImanagedtograbsomeLundiashelvingfrommywife’sworkjustbeforetheyupgradedtheirstoragesystems,worksfineforme.IwouldjustliketopointoutthatnotallthosekitsaremineaboutathirdbelongtoSpongyakaAlan,justincaseyouthoughtIwasacompulsivekitcollector.Ialsohavemycompressorandairbrushoutthere.
Mymainmodelinginterestisaircraft,usuallyin1/72scalebutinmycollectionIhave1/144,1/48,and1/32scalesrepresentedaswell.
I’malsodrawntoothersubjectsandmodelingstyleswhichinterestme.Likesci-fi/fact,EggPlanesforalaugh,Figures,AFV’s,Cardmodeling,Solidscalemodeling,andjustlatelyClassicCars. WhenI’mworkingIaimforatidybuild,goodpaintjobandsilverfreedecals.ThereisatemptationtouselotsofaftermarketgoodiesbutItryandusewhatI’vegotinthekitwiththeexceptionofsomescratchbuildingofmyown.
IcangetboggeddowninresearchthismaybeapaintschemeorsomeothertrivialpointbutonceI’veovercomethistypeofprocrastinationthebuildgoesalotsmoother.
