Born in 1860 in Camprodon, Spain.
His sister taught him how to play the piano at the age
of 1.
He performed for the first time at age 4.
Isaac applied and took the entrance examination for
piano at the Conservatoire de Paris, a prestigious
music school.
Traveled all over the world performing by the age of
15.

Isaac studied at the Royal Conservatory of
Brussels.
In 1880 Albéniz went to Budapest, Hungary to
study with Franz Liszt.
In 1883 he met the teacher and composer Felip
Pedrell, who inspired him to write Spanish
music such as the Chants d'Espagne.
He continued he concert career by touring
throughout Europe between 1889 and 1892.
During the 1890's he lived in London and
composed musical comedies.

In 1893 he married his student Rosina
Jordana. Together they had three children,
two of which would survive him.
In 1900, Isaac was diagnosed with Bright’s
disease a classification of kidney disease that
ultimately cause his death in 1909 just 11
days short of his 49th birthday.

Many of pieces have been turned into popular
translations on the guitar.
The government of France awarded Albéniz its highest
honor, the Grand-Croix de la Légion d'honneur.
All of his personal papers are kept at various
institutions.
A film was made in his honor in 1947, titled Albéniz.
His best pieces include: Asturias (Leyenda), Granada,
Sevilla, Cadiz, Cordoba, Cataluna, and the Tango in D
