The assembly of one pipe to another
maybeperformedusingvarious
methods.Oneofthemostsuccessful
methodsemploysarubberringjoint.
The rubber ring joint may be either
ofintegralsocketdesign(formedas
acontinuous,homogeneousentity
withthepipe)oritmayconsistof
aseparatesleeve-typecoupling.
Thejointprovidesthefollowing
advantages:

contraction.

conditions.

• Laboursavingandoverall
economical.
• Ease of installation.
Whentheringsarecolourcoded,be
suretoconsultthepipemanufacturer
ortheirliteratureforthedifference.In
allcases,cleanthering,thesocket
orthecouplinginterior,especially
thegroove(exceptwhentheringis
permanentlyinstalled)andthespigot
witharag,brushorpapertowelto
removeanydirtorforeignmaterial
beforeassembling.Inspectthering,
pipespigotchamber,ringgroove
andsealingsurfacesfordamagesor
deformation.Useonlyringswhichare
designedforandsuppliedwiththe
pipe.Insertthemasrecommendedby
themanufacturer.
Lubricantshouldbeappliedas
specifiedbythepipemanufacturer.
Bacterialgrowth,damagetogaskets
or the pipe, may result from the use
ofnon-approvedlubricants.Useonly
thelubricantsuppliedbythepipe
manufacturer.
While keeping the lengths in paper alignment, brace the socket and push the spigot into the bell. The spigot should be inserted until the reference mark on the pipe barrel is even with the edge of the socket.
