LAVISH
History repeats, beautifully. The faded grandeur of
neglected Rococo buildings and Baroque artifacts,
from Riga to Prague to Venice, is gaining a new
appreciation. In an age of instant answers and
disconnection, there is a growing yearning for
something richer and deeper, drawing on classic
art and European culture. This new generation
of classicists seek out faded Eastern European
decadence and neo-classical design, dressing and
living in dishevelled luxury, surrounded by gilt
ceilings and ornate, frescoed walls, wrapped in
sumptuous silks and luxe textures. Colours are rich
and gently worn, layered in patterns and textures,
from Titian rich sumptuous reds and browns, to
vintage pinks and blues. Rococo flourishes, hand-
blocked wallpapers, gently peeling paint add
a romantic, bygone grandeur to interiors. Slow
down to explore art, literature and culture; move
forward without forgetting the richness of the past.

InspirationThe faded grandeur of historical buildings, inside
and out, peeling paints, faded wallpapers, vintage
fabrics and finds, we see the beauty in old things and
the passing of time. From rich velvets, tapestries and

the look is lavish for a new take on luxury with an

UsageThe reds are central to this story,
as are the pinks; use in rich tonal
combinations alongside the deep warm
brown. The tan adds a level of neutrality
to the reds, inspired by wood veneers
and parquetry. Mix in the metallic gold
for sense of old world decadence. The
Rococo-inspired winter pastels add
an alternative colour level to the story
and work particularly well for soft
furnishings and table wear. Add the
Pumice Stone and the metallic gold for
decoration and trims.

A paler story, use the Rococo

statement. Use the Lavender
Lustre as a core shade and layer
the Polignac pink and Pumice
