What’s Distinctive About Stevenson-Carson School District? The Stevenson-Carson School District provides students a personalized educational experience. With small class sizes, specialized staff, and a clear instructional focus, students have the maximum opportunity to succeed. In addition to an excellent instructional program, students choose from a variety of extra-curricular offerings. Our motto, “Children First,” reflects the commitment to place students at the forefront of every decision. Stevenson-Carson School District’s highest priority is student success with an emphasis on improving reading and math performance. District staff is dedicated to consistent curriculum review and use of proven result-driven programs. We are a P-12 district serving approximately 900 students in Preschool, Stevenson Elementary, Carson Elementary, Wind River Middle School, and Stevenson High School. Our high school was named a 2012 Washington State School of Distinction recognizing sustained improvement in student’s Reading and Mathematics performance and Stevenson Elementary was named a 2013 State Title 1, Part A Distinguished School. The district enjoys community support as evidenced by the numerous business partnerships and family volunteers. A recent maintenance and operations levy was passed to support District initiatives. Wise use of fiscal resources has also allowed the district to create a significant fund balance for future needs.
About the Position The Principal position will serve Wind River Middle School and Stevenson High School in our 7-12 secondary building. The successful candidate will be a dynamic leader who will collaborate with existing administration to continue to develop a vision of excellent education within a positive culture in our secondary schools.
The Successful Candidate The Stevenson-Carson School District seeks educators who have a passion to help students reach their full potential and will be active participants in the Stevenson-Carson community. Preferred qualifications include: 3 or more years of successful administrative
experience A respected professional educator of
integrity, honesty, and compassion A belief that all students can learn;
insistence on academic excellence for all Uses data to help teachers guide instruction
and make decisions at the building level Strong organization, communication, and
collaboration skills Commitment to visibility and accessibility to
students, parents and colleagues Understands systems of continual
improvement such as TPEP, CEL 5-D frameworks, PLCs, and Indistar
Knowledge in or strong desire to learn about building programs such as: PBIS, AVID, CTE, ASB, and Athletics, to name a few.
Action oriented with a desire to utilize staff strengths and skill sets
Willingness to relocate to reside locally within our school district.
Master’s degree or higher in Educational Leadership
Holds a valid Washington State Principal Credential or be able to obtain one prior to July 1, 2018
School & Staff
Stevenson High School and Wind River Middle School joined together on one campus four years ago (2012/2013). Since that time, they have shared facilities and staff. Each school had a unique identity, culture, and traditions. Over the last few years, we have collaborated and done some amazing work together. We are looking for leadership to help us continue to keep our wonderful traditions and grow in our capacity to work together to provide students with a great educational experience and staff an amazing place to work and develop professionally.
