Marketing standards
• New General Marketing Standard (fair, sound & marketable) – apply to all products covered by the sCMO (Reg 1234/2007)
• Existing provisions maintained & may be streamlined in the future
• Sectoral marketing standards can be adopted by delegated acts
• Possibility to introduce mandatory indication of Place of farming for all products:– on a case by case basis – subject to impact assessment.

• Objective of this enhanced quality policy is to ensure the EU has the right tools to help farmers better communicating the qualities of agricultural product, and thus getting a fair price for their products.
• Next steps:– Discussion in the European Parliament
– Discussion in the Council
– 2012 at the earliest adoption of the Regulation on agricultural product quality schemes by Council of ministers and European Parliament
