Short course description:
To develop communicative language competencewhich includes linguistic, pragmatic andsociolinguistic components through reception(listening and reading comprehension), productionand interaction (speaking and writing) as well asmediation (translation) language skills at basic userbeginner level (A1).
Course content:
The course introduces learners with the Germanlinguistic system, prepares them for minimal andsimple oral and written communication, also developstheir receptive and productive general and specialskills and helps them to acquire socio-cultural andcommunicative competence at the elementary level.After completing this level students will be able tospeak about their family, surroundings, formulatesimple questions, start a social conversation usingelementary forms of politeness, listen and grasp theinterlocutor’s ideas, correctly describe themselves inthe written form; read adapted texts and translatethem into Lithuanian and retell the contents usinguncomplicated grammatical speech forms. The formof studies includes seminars, self-study tasks andwork in SANAKO lab and virtual MOODLEenvironment (on-line work, synchronous andasynchronous conversations and discussion forums,
interactive tests and exercises).
Grading and evaluatingstudent work in class and/orat the final exam:
Colloquium - 20 %, final examination - 30%, classwork - 50 %.
