Gelūnaitė-Malinauskienė Short course description: To develop communicative language competence which includes linguistic, pragmatic and sociolinguistic components through reception (listening and reading comprehension), production and interaction (speaking and writing) as well as mediation (translation) language skills at basic user beginner level (A1). Course content: The course introduces learners with the German linguistic system, prepares them for minimal and simple oral and written communication, also develops their receptive and productive general and special skills and helps them to acquire socio-cultural and communicative competence at the elementary level. After completing this level students will be able to speak about their family, surroundings, formulate simple questions, start a social conversation using elementary forms of politeness, listen and grasp the interlocutor’s ideas, correctly describe themselves in the written form; read adapted texts and translate them into Lithuanian and retell the contents using uncomplicated grammatical speech forms. The form of studies includes seminars, self-study tasks and work in SANAKO lab and virtual MOODLE environment (on-line work, synchronous and asynchronous conversations and discussion forums,

Grading and evaluatingstudent work in class and/orat the final exam:

Colloquium - 20 %, final examination - 30%, classwork - 50 %.
