Sustainable Living in Vulcan County

According to the 2006 Statistics Canada Census, 42% of Vulcan County's population 15 years and over had a total income of less than $20,000 in 2005. The low-income cut-off (LICO) is $18,246 for one person. Vulcan's Initiative to Achieve Better Living Environments (VIABLE) is a new comprehensive community-based initiative committed to provide opportunities for people to move out of financial crisis to sustainable living. With information gathered through a public forum and survey of County households, VIABLE' s Coalition Committee will develop and implement strategies to provide concrete supports and services to people living in low-income situations in our County in order for them to reach their full potential. The Coalition Committee will also be conducting other community events over the next year to inform and engage local people about this issue. If you wish to contact us, our email address is [email protected].
