Social Studies Focus AreasNorth Godwin School Improvement Team

Focus:Create and interpret a variety of maps, graphs, tables, charts, etc.Understand the importance of being an informed citizen in the voting processExpose K-5 students to Social Studies literature Improve Social Studies performance on MEAP tests

Solutions:School wide voting on Student council members in the fall of the yearSocial Studies books to be read, discussed and reacted to through written expression throughout the year in each grade levelUsing Graph Club 2.0 with at least two Social Studies standards in two different ways (one per semester)Use lessons in Social Studies Alive curriculum that include creating and interpreting graphs, charts, maps, etc.

Assessments:MEAPAll classes will participate in Student Council voting processShare and discuss student graph samples at collaboration meetingsAR Quiz for each grade level required Social Studies book
