PROJECT OBJECTIVE

The main objective is to slide sleeping surface from one bed to another bed

Introducing 5 types of motion in a single Bed

Inflation of right and left side

BACKGROUNDWe have chosen a path to implement our innovative ideas in the form of this

project named as Design ,prototype and controlling of Hospital Cot. The basic concept, which is emerged out from our project is to Provide ease to the patient .

• Sliding Motion are designed to a specific application and location.

• Rack and pinion Mechanism used for this purpose is cheap in cost and easy to handle

• Inflation of right and left side is accomplished using air pump ,we insert air in a parachute made bed sheet

Features of projectThere are various FEATURES of our project. It can offer number of

advantages to the user. Our project has some of the most countable features that have mentioned below:-

• Automatic: In automatic transmission, patient should be moved

without help of nurse • Manual :Manual operation permits the patient to move bed by

herself/himself using controls • Motors can handles weight up to 50Kg.

• Structure can handle weight up to 250kg

Casters also come in a variety of sizes, mount types and load rating ranges to withstand diverse weight capacities

In any medical caster, it's a high priority to reduce operator strain and provide patient comfort especially on hospital beds.

Medical casters have been used for diagnostic equipment, hospital beds, hospital carts, stretchers, IV poles and other mobile medical equipment.

Additionally, casters come in a variety of aesthetically pleasing designs to avoid looking industrial or threatening to patients.

Controller (Forward and Backward Switch)

The motor will run only as long as each pushbutton switch is held down. If we wanted to keep the motor running even after the operator takes his or her hand off the control switch , we could change the circuit in a couple of different ways: we could replace the pushbutton switches with toggle switches, or we could add some more relay logic to “latch” the control circuit with a single, momentary actuation of either switch. Let’s see how the second approach is implemented, since it is commonly used in industry

Motor Selection

AC Motors

• Selection of motors on the basis of its output power .This is a condenser-run type induction motor, designed for durability in repeated clockwise and counter-clockwise rotations as in door actuators and lifts. This kind of model has high starting torque and short acceleration period. The maximum continuous running time is 30 minutes. When the motor is stopped for a long enough time, it can be used for a longer period in a repeated manner. The output is 6W to 120W. The rated voltages are 100V, 115V ,220V, and 240V it is recommended to select an appropriate motor type that will fit the load characteristics and user’s conditions.

Motor Pics

AC GEAR MOTORAC gear motor operates on 220 volts and is controlled by the Microcontroller. Three AC gear motors are present here; one is on Leg side and second is on head side third motor is for sliding motion The motors are interfaced with the controller, when the signal is received the motor starts to work.

Rack and Pinion

The Rack & Pinion block represents rack and pinion gear that converts between translational and rotational motion. The rotational-translational gear constrains the pinion (P) and rack (R) to, respectively, rotate and translate together in a fixed ratio that you specify. You can choose whether the rack axis translates in a positive or negative direction, as the pinion rotates in a positive direction, by using the Rack direction parameter

Sliding Channel

The main objective of this project is to slide sleeping surface from one bed to another bed. For this purpose we use a Sliding channel of length 0.125Ft and Width of 3ft and we weld wheels

PROJECT PARTSThe Design ,prototype and controlling of Hospital Cot is divided into two basic parts:

• Electronic partThis part of the project consist of electronic circuitry(Switch) and all the Ac motors which is used to work together with the mechanical structure .

• Mechanical partMechanical part of the project is consist of the basic structure of hospital bed which is used to slide patient from one surface to another.

PROJECT APPLICATIONS

• Transfer of patient • Provide Free hand to patient

FUTURE ENHANCEMENT

• Our project contain wired Switch panel which would be

used using 220v,In future we will use wireless remote for this purpose using any latest technology.
