A presentation contains at least one slide master The slide master stores details about the

presentation’s design theme including its slide layout and formatting

When you make a change to the slide master, that change is automatically applied to every slide in your presentation– for example, if you change the font color on the slide

master, the font color will automatically change on all of the slides in your presentation

If you create a blank presentation, the Office Theme will be applied to the presentation’s slide master

The Office Theme contains no background or graphics but does assign font formatting and layouts to all placeholders in the slide presentation

1. Click the VIEW tab

2. Click the Slide Master button in the Master Views group

3. Click the top (and largest) slide layout thumbnail (Office Theme Slide Master) in the slide layout thumbnails pane

4. Click in the title placeholder and select the placeholder text Click to edit Master title style

7. Click Franklin Gothic Heavy in the drop-down gallery

1. In Normal view, click the Museum logo in Slide 1 in the slide pane

2. Click the Copy button in the Clipboard group on the HOME tab

3. Click the VIEW tab

4. Click the Slide Master button in the Master Views group

5. Click the third slide layout thumbnail (Title and Content Layout) in the slide layout thumbnails pane

6. Click the HOME tab

7. Click the Paste button in the Clipboard group to paste the copied logo into the slide master

8. Hover your mouse pointer over the logo until the pointer becomes a four-headed arrow and then click and drag the pasted logo to the bottom right corner of the content placeholder of the slide in the slide pane

9. Click the View tab

10. Click the Normal button in the Presentation Views group

3. In the Header and Footer dialog box with the Slide tab selected, click the Date and time check box to insert a check mark

4. Confirm that the Update automatically option is selected

Customizing Slide Footers You can apply a footer to individual slides using

the same process described in this skill However, remember that one of the benefits of

inserting a footer on the slide master is that you do not have to create or change each footer individually

1. In Normal view, click Slide 8 in the slide thumbnails pane

2. Click the DESIGN tab

3. Click the Format Background button in the Customize group to display the Format Background pane

4. Click the Hide background graphics check box to insert a check mark

5. Click Close to close the Format Background pane

Inserting Graphics on Individual Slides What if you hide the master graphic because

the placement does not suit a particular slide, but you would still like to include some form of the graphic on that slide?

You can insert the same graphic on the slide after hiding the master graphic

You can then move it around the slide, resize it, or even rotate it to make it work with the other slide elements
