In What Way Does Your Media Product Use, Develop or challenge forms and Conventions of real media

products.

Task: Select 10 Still Images from the music video and the two ancillary tasks, annotate each one

and indicate which conventions have been used.

Hip hop/ Rap Conventions: Rapping

The First Hip hop/Rap Convection Portrayed in are Music video is rapping. Max Playing the star persona is seen rapping in the majority of the music video. Also he is also facing the camera when rapping, this shows his confidence. As the star persona he also has to assert his dominance to show he is still big in the “Rap Game”.

Mid/Long Shot, This shot allows the audience to see his full outfit. We have done this so the audience will notice his numerous outfits.

All ways making eye contact with the camera, so the audience feel like he is looking at them.

CostumeCostume is a Hip hop/rap convention that we used in are music video, I think that this was highly effective when watching the footage back. Our star persona has numerous outfit changes through out the video, this enforces that he is rich, a common aspect of the hip hop/rap stars life. They enjoy to splash money, so this is why we had our star persona change outfit in the video.

This is a new trend, its called the cape. Its where you where a jacket undo the zip but tie it up at the top. We have our star persona doing this, so the audience know he is up to date with fashion trends.

This is another outfit that our star persona wears during the video.

Dancing Dancing is a very popular convention across most genres of music, however it is highly used in the Hip hop/Rap genre.

Here we have are star persona, break dancing during the instrumental part of the song “my house”. This adds to his star persona, so as well as being a rich rapper he can also break dance. This also goes against the usual conventions as well as the star is not usually dancing on there own, let alone free styling. We also choreographed a routine for

the dance routine for the video witch turned out well. This is a typical convention for hip hop/ rap video.

Urban LocationAn Urban location is used in almost every Hip Hop/Rap Music video, so this was important for us to include this

convention in are music video. We tried to create a street feel for the video, this is why we filmed in car parks for are two locations. I think that this makes the whole video look more urban and street.

This Location tells the audience a little bit more about the star, this builds a bit of background information about him, adding street cred to his reputation.

Here are star persona is in a off-street multi-story car park as one location.

Our star persona is consistently maintaining eyes contact with the camera.

This location in on top of the main car park in our star personas area. Known as Level 6, Often people with similar skills will meet here to jam.

Ancillary tasksThis is one of are ancillary tasks, this is the magazine advert. We have a picture of are star persona looking over his area. This picture is trying to show that he runs the town as he is stood at the top looking down on everyone.

I think that the font used is very effective on this magazine advert as a city skyline is engraved in the bottom of each letter, which is clever because the star persona is going on about how this is his town

CD coverThis is our CD cover for Legacy’s new album “Back on the Scene”. We have a tattoo theme on the CD cover as this is a new trend as a lot of stars now have heavily tattooed bodies.

We tried to keep the theme of the CD cover simple. So it would look understated, rather than an extravagant, over the top CD cover. This is why we have our star persona on a plain background for the actual cover.
