My Two Perspectives
As a Corporate Executive
● The need for “Go-To People”
● The need for “Organizational Maturity”
● The need for Future Leaders
As a College President
● The trend of students attending multiple institutions
● The change in degree construction components
● The change in policies and regulations regarding credits accepted from external sources
Education Trend #1
75% of students will attend two or more colleges prior to graduation
25% of students will attend only one institution
Education Trend #2
75% of learning content may originate from outside of the degree granting institution
25% of content must be generated by the degree granting institution - per accreditors
From my own lens…
Imagine the ability to curate and create content which aligns
the corporate talent development needs with the academic
policies of colleges and universities
One-Off Examples
Colleges that developed corporate relationships focused on costs or
programming
A college transcribing one or two training courses into college credits – 2.5% to 5% of
the degree structure
Scaling - The power of 10X to 100x
Imagine over 500 colleges with cost and programming focus
Imagine 30%-50% of the college degree components designed by the CLO
Skills and Expectations
Theoretical Skills – Abstract concepts
Applied Skills – Subject matter knowledge
Workforce Skills – Personal attributes
An opportunity for the CLO to impact all three areas within higher education
Expectation GapWhat External Constituents are Saying
