GUSTAVE FLAUBERT

was a French writer born in Rouen, France on December 12,

1821. Died Croisset, France, May 8, 1880.

Flaubert wrote of ordinary middle-class people and tried to portray their lives with complete objectivity.

His Madame Bovary, widely regarded as the model of realistic fiction. is one of the world's great novels.


PLOT A young doctor, Charles Bovary first

met Emma Rouault, when he was called to go the farm because her father broke his leg.


He is married, but he doesn’t love his wife

But soon his wife dies, and he is free to marry young Emma


When, after work, he sat at the door the house in slippers, embroidered by Emma, he felt at the height of bliss

Charles was devoted to her, kind and hardworking, but it had not the slightest of the heroic

She wanted a love like in novels, but reality was different…


Bovary received an invitation to the ball Emma was happy, and has

experienced an acute pleasure


Emma was hoping for a new invitation, but it has not followed

Emma wishes for romantic love, wealth, and social status that she cannot attain because she is married to a middle-class doctor.


they moved to Yonville Emma was pregnant, and she gave birth

to a beautiful girl Bertha


Here she met her lover Leon Dupuis. But he was to shy to be with her.


And when he moved to Paris, she captured melancholy


Her second lover was landowner, Rodolphe Boulanger

He wasconfident and brave, no match for the young Leon


But she was to intrusive, because she loved him to much

She made him to promise that he will take her away from her husband

But he didn’t kept his promise And left her


After her suffering she get a brain tumor, and her husband was with her

She get better only in spring Afterwards she had an interesting

hobby, she loved luxurious clothes and stuff

She gets credit and spend all the money of her poor medico husband

They were ruined, but the husband didn’t know nothing about that


FINAL She asked for help from her lovers, but

she gets a refuse After that she run into the drugstore,

were she drink poison Her husband was in a terrible state, he

lost his house and wife, and also he find her correspondence with young people


P.S. Little Bertha took the education of the

mother of Charles, and after her death - of an elder aunt.

Emma’s lovers became a very prosperous person


CONCLUSION

Bovary was a hostage of her ideals, she was in searching of new impressions, and of another life. The life were she will be a lady and the knight will rescue her. But when she understand that this reality its just her imagination, and she cannot put out with that….
