From the Head Teacher - Ms. Sue Hill Dear Parents, Another wonderful week of festive performances here at TX! The EYFS performance of „Ralph the Reindeer‟ certainly got us in the mood for Christmas. The F3 children were very brave speakers on the stage and led us through the story of how Rudolf was too sick to fly so Ralph was called in to help Santa. Unfortunately, Ralph couldn‟t fly, however, with help from the other reindeer he managed to take off and thankfully all was well for Christmas Eve. Well done to all the F1, F2 and F3 children who were amazing and congratulations to the EYFS team for working so hard to bring the performance to the big stage.

Last night, we held our Christmas market and concert. Children from the age of 5 to 11 performed on a special stage set up in the playground with the audience seated on beanbags and milling around enjoying the ambi-ence. In addition to the MP choirs and orchestra club, we also had performances from the Chamber Choir, String Orchestra, Brass Ensemble, Year 6 Junk Band and the recorder group. Thank you to Ms Mandy and her team of guards and maintenance men for making the playground look so festive with the colourful lanterns and spotlights. I would also like to thank Mr Robbie and his team of musicians: Mr Mike, Ms Heather, Ms Alice, Ms Jess and Ms Julia. This morning, we celebrated the Masters of Learning for Global Citizens and Enquiry. Year 2 children gave a super introduction about why we should become global citizens then the graduation began. Congratulations to the following children:

F3: Zander, Xiang Year 1: Cadhla, Sushi Year 2: An, Thy Year 3: Bao Van, Quynh An Year 4: Nghia, Tri Year 5: David, Gally Year 6: Kephren, Anh Vu

To conclude our busy first term, last night we had the TX Christmas Musical Market, where TX was transformed for the evening into a winter wonderland! This event consisted of a very festive German-style market in the TX foyer, with arts and crafts available to buy made by all made by the children from EYFS to Year 6, with help from Ms Charlie. Alongside this, we had amazing performances in the playground by the TX orchestra, choirs, Year 6 Junk Band, Brass Group and many more.

The children have been preparing for these musical performances for many weeks, and it was wonderful to see all this hard work being paid off.

‘Ralph The Reindeer’

Our EYFS children showed off their amazing talents on Wednesday during their Christmas performance. For the first time, every F3 child had a speaking part and they really shone! There were some hilarious moments on the stage such as the time when Ralph the Reindeer discovered he couldn‟t fly but also some more spontaneous ones! The F1 and F2 children looked wonderful in their respective elf and reindeer costumes but it was their singing we were really impressed with. It was also fantastic to have such an appreciative audience!

Ms Gurvinder EYFS Leader

The BIS swim squad from all three campuses took part in the Bangkok Patana „Feeding Frenzy‟ Invitational Swim meet. Andrew Vu, Jeanette Vo, Jamie Donnelly, Khoa Tran and Quynh An Tran from the TX campus participated in the event. The results were as follows; - BIS came fourth out of twelve schools with a total point score 2018 points. - Quynh An Tran came first in her age group for overall points score. - All the students that took part managed to improve on their (PB‟s) time in the different events. Well done to all the swimmers that took part; without your hard work and dedication the squad would not have achieved its position.

This week has certainly got us in the Christmas spirit! The EYFS children lifted their voices and spoke very bravely during their production of „Ralph the Reindeer‟. This was followed, quite amazingly, by a live satellite link to the North Pole; the children spoke to Santa for half an hour and asked him lots of questions. Come Thursday, it was the turn if the children in Years 1 – 6 to make us feel festive at the Christmas Musical Market. It was a wonderful community event! Thank you to all the teachers for working so hard to make these events so magical, and especially to Mr Robbie for all his contributions. Wishing everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy and successful New Year! On my blog (ianbattersby.blogspot.com) this week

Community Football Tournament

Community Football Tournament A Day of Friendship 100 years ago, an unexpected game of football on the fields of France brought two opposing armies together. It is heartening to know that The Beautiful Game can still bring people together as we welcomed over 70 children to a carnival of football and friendship. Being part of a sports team is something of a dream to many children across the world and our Community Service leaders made sure that this dream was fulfilled for our students and community partners. All of this happened in a tournament that was both competitive and sporting. The teams were all mixed so that our BIS students and our guests played on the same sides on a day that was perhaps best summarised by one of our own students: “I made some great new friends today”. Green Certificate, December 2014; the last one of the year! 4X was awarded the Green Certificate for the month of December. The classroom was kept very green by the children who made sure that everything was switched off when it was empty, and scrap paper was available for printing. Well done 4X. Remember over the holidays– be green at home!

Reduce, reuse, recycle too The Eco-Teams are watching you.

Wishing you a green and merry holiday season.
