(By Khurram Khan, Director RCIB) NATIONAL GUIDELINES ON EDUCATION Pakistan Education Conference 1947 “The education system in Pakistan should be inspired by Islamic ideology, emphasizing among many of its characteristics those of universal brotherhood, tolerance and justice.” National Commission on Education 1959 “Education must play a fundamental part in the preservation of the ideals which led to the creation of Pakistan strengthening the concept of it as a united nation, and striving to preserve the Islamic way of life.” National Education Policy 1969 National Education Policy 1972-80 “..The preservation and inculcation of Islamic values as an instrument of national unity and progress.” National Education Policy 1979 “To foster in the hearts and minds of the people of Pakistan in general and the students in particular a deep and abiding loyalty to Islam and Pakistan and living a consciousness of their spiritual and ideological identity thereby strengthening unity of the outlook of the people of Pakistan on the basis of justice and fair play.” National Education Policy 1992 “To restructure the existing educational system of modern lines in accordance with the principles of Islam so as to create a healthy, forward-looking and enlightened Muslim society.” National Education Policy 1998-2010 “To make the Qur’anic principles and Islamic practices as an integral part of curricula so that the message of the Holy Qur’an could be disseminated in the process of education as well as training. NATIONAL GUIDELINES ON EDUCATION

Pakistan Education Conference 1947

“The education system in Pakistan should be inspired by Islamic ideology, emphasizing
