As of May 2012, the Bureau of Labor Statistics Reported the Median Annual Salary of social workers was $54,560.

Applicants to Social Work graduate programs are usually required to demonstrate experience in social work or a related field, a strong academic record. Individuals with an undergraduate degree in social work may be qualified to participate in an advanced standing program (a 1 year intensive course of study to earn a master’s degree).
