Theme or focus of images

The first image was taken in Abruzzi, Italy; the second was taken in Tuscany, Italy. The third image was taken in Lot, France and the last one was taken in Devon, England. All of the images are landscape and they’re all very long shots, showing everything in the distance. Image 1 is showing trees and mountains, I can tell from this image that it was autumn/winter at the time because none of the trees have leaves on. The sky is clear but it looks quite cold. Image 2 shows hills and trees but also a little cottage quite far back, the colours from that image suggest that it was warm at the time. Image 3 is brighter than the rest; there is a tree in the middle of a field of sunflowers with a rather clear sky. The last image shows the rocks, sea and the hills in the distance.

Composition

I think the photographer use a similar technique when taking all of his images. From the images it looks as though he uses the same position of the camera, which is head on long shot or wide shots. There isn’t any need for the photographer to use zoom when taking landscape pictures because you can see everything in the distance anyway, unless he wanted his audience to focus on a main section of the image. The message of the Images would change if the photographer was to change the angle, shot; use zoom or crop any of the images.

Techniques used

No depth of field has been used in any of the images. All of them expect the last one are bright so the shutter speed would have been set at a slow speed, usually 1 - 1/80s. The last image is darker and the sky is cloudy, this means the shutter speed would be set at a faster speed usually about average which is 1/150 - 1/500s.Strengths & Weaknesses

In my opinion these images have a lot of strengths; I think the colours work well together in each one but especially in the third picture with the blue sky and bright yellow sunflowers fields. I like how the shot has captured the hills in the background.

The only weakness I would say is in the last photo, I think the photographer should have positioned the camera to get more of the sea in the shot.
