The following paragraph outlines the effects of the revolutionary period in Europe between 1789 and 1815. The revolution resulted in great upheavals as absolute monarchies were overthrown and the borders of Europe’s countries were changed. This upheaval was caused by Napoleon Bonaparte, as his armies swept across the continent. Consequently, after the revolution, a congress was held in Vienna in 1815 to discuss strategies for ensuring that peace and stability would be returned to Europe. As a result, the delegates at the Congress of Vienna were determined to undo all the ‘harm’ that Napoleon and the revolution had caused and a determined effort to return Europe to its pre-1789 state was made.
