Maintaining heritage while staying current

Haynes Chorley & Co. Ltd., now trading as Spectrum Plastics, has been around since 1922. The original idea of printing on paper has evolved into laser printing on special plastics allowing the company to stay current while maintaining their heritage of printing. Printing is now offered on many different surfaces: PVC, metal, glass, acrylics, self-adhesive vinyl, self-cling, wood, some of which were not even around when the company was originally founded.

Passing on Enterprise Cultural Heritage

Spectrum Plastics has maintained its competitive position in the printing business by learning from experience and using the wealth of knowledge that has been passed down through the generations.

Managing Director Kath Dornan says that one of the most important assets of the company and one that she is particularly proud of was its staff. A strong sense of belonging to the business means that staff take great pride in their jobs.

The MNEMOS project found that the role of staff and the passing on of knowledge were important in the management of ECH within organisations.
