Cityside pools reopen after renovation. Work continues on the east end of Cityside Middle School, including a fitness center and aerobics and dance studios for the public. Look for an open house during the fall of Fall, 2008!
Entering its second year of giving, the Zeeland Public Schools Education Foundation grants $18,554 to support 23 classroom projects during the 2008-2009 school year.
A new program begins introducing Spanish at the elementary grades. The program will expand to include six, seventh and eighth grades.
Two hundred citizens take part in a forum Nov. 20 on the future growth of Zeeland Public Schools. Nearly 400 more complete an online survey. After much thought, the school board chooses to postpone a May bond designed to meet growth needs, because of state and national economic woes.
A report to the school board shows ZPS saved more than $760,000 in utility costs over 6 years through replacement of boilers and lights and use of geo-thermal technology.
The Zeeland boys’ swim and dive team captured the Division 2 state title, the district’s ninth swim championship since 1980.
